Castlerea St Kevin’s Div IV Northern League: Our Junior team had a good first round win in this competition on Saturday evening last when they had a comfortable 2-10 to 0-6 win over Kilglass Gaels in O’Rourke Park. Both our Gilmartin’s Cash & Carry sponsored senior team and our Clasby Beale Associates sponsored intermediate team have games on Sunday next; the senior team play Elphin in O’Rourke Park at 2.00pm while the intermediate team play Western Gaels in Frenchpark at 4.30 pm; let’s hope someone will come up with getting one of those re-scheduled for Saturday as it is a lot to expect two teams to play at two different venues within one hour of each other. Presentation Function: A presentation function will be held in the O’Rourke Centre on Sunday night 18th March at which the Tansey Cup winning team of last year will be presented with their medals. ST RONANS GAA CLUB NOTES The junior team had a good win over Balinameen in the Division 4 league game played in Ballinameen on Saturday evening last. However it was disappointing that a number of players did not turn up for the game and did not inform the management of their unavailability. The return of Gay Sheeran in goals caused a stir among the assembed media and supporters. The next game in this competition is against Tulsk In Ballyfarnon in two weeks time. Due to the poor weather the minor game against St. Croans was called off last Sunday. The minor team are due to play St. Barry’s on this Sunday at 12 o’clock in Tarmonbarry. Training on Friday night in Ballyfarnon at 8pm. The O’Gara Cup continues this weekend when we play Strokestown in Strokestown at 4pm on Sunday. Players are asked to be at the dressing rooms at 3pm. The All-Ireland Feile Peil na Nog (under 14) is being hosted by Leitrim, Roscommon Sligo on the last week end of June 2007. Pearses’ Minor Football team got their league campaign of to a good start with victory over Clan na nGael in tough conditions in Woodmount last Sunday. Both sides were under strength but Ollie Dooley’s charges showed a greater desire to win on the day. Half-time score Pearses 1-6 Clan na Gael 0-5. The second half was evenly contested as Clan set about reducing the deficit but Pearses held firm and a great run from Emmett Kelly led to a penalty which was well dispatched by John Landy, Pearses’ with man of the match Niall Daly in great form held out well for the remainder of the match to secure victory. Best for Pearses’ were: Niall Daly and Shane Mulvey in the backs, Emmett Kelly and Alan Duffy in midfield, and Eana Ryan and John Landy in the forward line. Enon is of course a former County Star and All star award winner. We play in Div 1 this Year for the first time in many Years and it is proof that the underage structure is progressing well. U-14 FOOTBALL: Training for the coming Year will commence on Monday 19 th Golf Society. Our Society had a very enjoyable outing on Saturday last in Roscommon with 35 Players (participants) taking part. Damian Fallon had the best score on the Day and the presentation was held on the night in Angela Dobsons. Our Annual Golf Classic takes place on Saturday 21 st April. SCOR: Scór – the county finals of senior scór were held in Culleen hall on Friday 2nd March. A great nights entertainment was had and St. Dominics emerged victorious in five of the competitions namely figure dancing, set dancing, ballad group, recitation and solo singing.
