PADRAIG PEARSES Feile is being held over the coming weekend. Padraig Pearses are hosting an U-14 team and mentors from Baileboro this Friday, Saturday and Sunday.   Saturday’s evening activities will depend on the results obtained during the day. A night of entertainment for the adults will be held in the clubhouse on Saturday night commencing 10.30pm. All are welcome and your support at the matches and social events would be much appreciated. O’Rourke Cup Senior Football: Pearses 0-9 Kilbride 0-11. Pearses hopes of qualifying for the semi-finals of the O’Rourke cup were virtually ended with this narrow defeat in Hyde Park last Sunday evening. Our Senior team had a good win in the Senior League last Sunday evening in Kilbride over Padraig Pearses. Worryingly for Kilbride both Stephen Lohan and Sean Lohan picked up injuries.  Kilbride Underage: A Resounding Congrats & well done to the boys and girls of Roxboro N.S. who won the Cumann na mBunscoil 3/4 Teacher County Final.  FUERTY Training continues Wednesday and Friday at 8pm sharp. All players are requested and expected to attend.  The Club is holding a monster Table Quiz in Cattigans on Friday 6th July. All players are asked to provide a team. Please Support ST. CROANS   Next weekend the National Féile is taking place. St Croans are hosting Tubbercurry and matches will be held in Enfield on Friday 29 th and Saturday 30 th . Please come and support our young players and make it an enjoyable weekend for all involved.  CLANN NA NGAEL The Clann coaching clinic was launched on Friday night last in Johnstown. The coaching will take place from July 9 th – 13 th for U-12 to U-16 players. Anyone interested can contact any member of the committee. U-14 Feile: The Club hosts the Portlaoise boy’s team and St Rynaghs girls U-14 team in Feile this weekend. The lads are in the same group as Padraig Pearses, Baileboro and Portlaoise and the girls are in the same group as St Brigids, Portlaoise and St Rynaghs. Boys games will all be played in Johnstown on Friday and Saturday. The Connacht final now takes place in Hyde Park on Sunday 8th July at 12 noon as a curtain raiser to the senior final. Please note tickets will be on sale in the O’Rourke Centre. Untimely death: All our members, players and officials were shocked when news of the tragic and untimely death of Western Gaels player Stephen Nolan broke; Stephen was a past pupil of Castlerea Community School and consequently was very friendly with all of our younger players; he always relished the local derby games and then when the game was over he would have the "craic with the lads".  To his grieving parents, brothers and sisters, and to the Western Gaels G.A.A. club we extend our sincere and heartfelt sympathy. Golf Classic: Castlerea St Kevin’s are holding a Golf Classic on Saturday 21st July; proceeds will go towards capital investment in the club. The launch of the Classic will take place at O’Rourke Centre Thursday at 9 pm. Plans and proposed layout of our new grounds will be on display; everyone interested in the future development of the club is invited to attend.  ST MICHAELS Feile Peil nOg U-14 football tournament takes place this weekend and we are a host club and venue. We compete in Division 5, our group includes Aughavas and two English teams from Lancashire and London South. The visiting team from Lancashire will be hosted by families in the parish and will arrive at the pitch at 8p.m. on Thursday. Friday 29 th : 3 p.m. St Michaels Vs Lancashire. The Feile parade takes place in Carrick at 7.30 p.m. – all stewards to be at Pairc Sean at 5.30 p.m; Saturday 30 th : (all games at Ardcarne Park) 9.30a.m. St Michaels Vs London; 10.15: Lancashire Vs Aughavas; 11.00 Skills competition; 11.45 St Michaels Vs Aughavas; 12.30: Lancashire Vs London.  The winners of this group will travel to Croghan for their semi-final. The Division 3 semi-finals and skills finals will take place on our pitch commencing at 4.30p.m. All finals will take place in Carrick on Sunday. Best of luck to our U-14’s in the competition. ROSCOMMON GAELS   U-10 Football – Congratulations to the boys on reaching the U-10 Community Games Final. They had a great win in the semi-final over AFK. They play the final against St Brigids. Check fixtures for details. Feile: Friday 29 th June visiting clubs from Bennekerry/Tinryland Carlow (girls) and Douglas of Cork (boys) arrive. All teams then travel to Pairc Mhic Diarmada Carrick on Shannon to take part in official opening of Féile na nÓg and parade around Carrick on Shannon at 6.45pm. All parents are asked to attend. On Saturday 30th June we travel to Ballinlough to take part in the remainder of our group games and if successful travel to Boyle that afternoon for the semi-finals. Our girls will be playing the remainder of their group games in Hyde Park against St Dominics and Arklow Geraldines of Wicklow. The semi-finals will be played in Auhavas in Leitrim on Saturday evening with all finals being played in Pairc Sean Mhic Diarmada in Carrick on Shannon on Sunday. Check fixtures list for times and venues of Games. Minor Hurling: Training Saturday evening, U-12/13 Hurling: Training Friday evening at 7pm sharp in the Hyde. Registration is now due. Each player should also have their own helmet, available through the club. Beginners, U-8, U-10 Hurling training continues every Monday at 6:30pm in the CBS pitch. Its important all players attend. FAITHLEACH’S   O’Rourke Cup: We played against St. Brigids in Ballyleague on Sunday last. Final Score – St. Faithleachs 0-6 St. Brigids 2-10 Training continues as usual in St. Faithleach’s pitch TULSK   All was quiet in the club after the tragic death of Stephen Nolan, Stephen’s mother Sheila comes from Lismurtagh and his uncles, Joe John, Bernie and Frank all played football for Lord Edwards. May he rest in peace. Training continues as normal and it has to be emphasised that all members stay off the new training area. The O’Gara Cup qualifier games are scheduled to start this weekend with a match against St Croans, check fixtures for details.  Well done to our ladies wing St. Mary’s on retaining the U-14 cup for a third time.  ELPHIN O’Rourke Cup: Elphin 1-8 Roscommon Gaels 0-7. The senior team produced an impressive performance against Roscommon Gaels in the Orchard last week and went on to win the game by four points. They also drew with St. Barry’s on Sunday last Tansey Cup: Elphin 4-10 St. Aidans 0-9. The junior team recorded a very good win against St. Aidans on Saturday evening last. ST RONANS Our next game in the championship is against St Croans in their home ground at 2pm on Sunday July 1st.  Our intermediate team plays Strokestown in Ballyfarnon on Saturday evening at 7 30pm. All players are asked to attend at least 45 mins before throw in time.  Our minor team has resumed training on Saturday mornings at 11am and Monday evenings at 8pm in Ballyfarnon. Our next game is against Kilmore and has been provisionally rescheduled for Sunday morning at 11am in Ballyfarnon.  Next weekend sees the launch of Feile. Our first game is on Friday afternoon at 3pm against the Geraldine club from Co Louth. A parade will take place in Carrick on Shannon after the game. Both teams will attend. Our next game takes place in Ballinamore on Saturday.  NAOMH DOMINIC The Hurling Championship resumes on Sunday next when St Dominics face Athleague. Dominics begin their defence of the Junior Championship on Tuesday 1st July when they take on Four Roads in Ballyforan.  Our U-14 girls take part in Feile. We are hosting Arklow and play them in Knockcroghery at 3.15pm on Friday 29 th June. We play the remaining two games in the Group in Hyde Park on Saturday morning. Our U-16, U-18 and Junior Teams do not have coaches at present and we would ask anyone who could help out in any way with training to contact any of the Ladies Committee urgently. Our U-14 team have a very busy weekend with games against Swinford from Mayo, Skerries from Dublin and neighbours St Brigids. All games are being played in Knockcroghery. We would encourage support. We play Swinford on Friday afternoon at 2.30pm. On Saturday morning we play Skerries at 9.30am and St Brigids at 11.30am. EIRE OG Well done to the Roscommon Minors who had an excellent victory in the Connacht semi final against Mayo. Darren McDermott had an excellent game. Well done Darren! Next weekend we take part in Feile. Mrs. Ann Harte retired in Gortaganny and Mrs. Bernadette Tivnan retired as principal teacher in Loughglynn. To both these women we extend a sincere thank you for your very dedicated service to the education of so many and we hope you have a long and happy retirement.   MINOR STROKESTOWN In the minor blitz in Elphin we were narrowly beaten by Tulsk and Boyle and won our match against Kilbride.   Congratulations to the boys and girls schools who won their respective Cumann na mBunscoil finals in Hyde Park recently.  Well done to them and their mentors and teachers.  Feile: Strokestown is host to St. Molaise Gaels from north Sligo in national Feile competition. They arrive on Friday afternoon and play Strokestown at 3 pm. On Saturday we also have St. Faithleachs and Kilbride playing in Strokestown and the skills competition at 2.30 pm. The first match on Saturday morning is at 9.30 am when we play St. Faithleachs.   Our thanks to the families who are hosting the visiting players and the people who have agreed to help out on the day.    LADIES FOUR ROADS Feile: We would like to welcome Thomastown from Kilkenny who will be hosted by our club in Feile and wish them every success in the competition. Our first game is on Friday at 3 pm in Four Roads and your support would be appreciated. Our games on Saturday are to be held in Leitrim. We would like to take this opportunity to thank all who have helped and those hosting the Thomastown team, as without them this would not be possible. STROKESTOWN First Junior match coming up on 17th July. It’s important that all U-16’s, Minor and Junior players attend all training sessions. Next training on Saturday evening, time yet to be confirmed. ROSCOMMON The county board is introducing a new weekly draw, due to commence the first Saturday in August. It operates by you picking four numbers and if the numbers appear in the National Lotto draw then you are a winner. Tickets are available from your local clubs. Congratulations to the victorious U-14 team who won an All-Ireland blitz which was played over the weekend. Well done to all concerned.
