On Monday our U-14s got the ball rolling with a great win over Ballinameen but on Thursday evening they faced a much stronger Eire Og team and they got well beaten but Kilglass were missing 4 players which could have changed the scoreboard. Wednesday our U-11s bowed out of the U-11 tournament losing to Annaduff who now go into the final on Saturday.  On Saturday evening our juniors beat St Faithleach’s in a very entertaining game in Kilglass, and that never say die attitude from Kilglass won them the game, something that is coming back into the team, that has been missing for quite a while. And on Sunday our Junior B specials lost and got what can only be described as a football lesson from Western Gaels who were by far the better and more skilled team on the day. MINOR KILBRIDE Training for the U-8 squad begins this week. All eligible players please take note, training will take place on Friday evenings at Fourmilehouse School pitch at 7.30 pm. U-11: On Wednesday next, Kilbride travel once again to Kilglass pitch and will meet Clonguish in the Kilglass Gaels U-11 Tournament semi-final. Throw-in at a time to be confirmed. All support welcome.  U-12: This week will see the U-12 squad face Strokestown and Oran in challenge matches. Results next week. U-14: The U-14 League match saw home advantage for Kilbride on this occasion as we faced St. Ciarans on Wednesday 16th May. Always a hard fought contest and this was to be no exception.  On this occasion St. Ciarans emerged the victors, but Kilbride fought hard right up to the final whistle. Unfortunately the shooting-boots were off-form. Sunday saw Tulsk travel to us and in glorious sunshine (we were lucky!) a thrilling match ensued. Kilbride dominated with regards to possession, but every ball was strongly contested and Tulsk gave nothing away. For this match the Kilbride players were a joy to behold, playing free-flowing, intelligent football that many a senior team would be proud of.  However, (there’s ALWAYS a "but") their shooting boots took an awful long time to warm up!!! When they did, though, they were awesome! Final score Kilbride 6.14 Tulsk 3.10. On Thursday evening the team travels to Strokestown for the next game.  Check GAA fixtures for details. Training Tuesday evening at 6.30 pm SHARP at Fourmilehouse School pitch (NOTE venue please)!  All players attend please. Congrats to local boys Tiernan, Gavin and Conor, whose team, Ballyboro won the U-12 Div 1 League in the Longford Schoolboys District League. Sunday 13th May saw Kilbride face St. Croan’s. This was an important match for us, as a win would see us go through into a play-off situation.  Fortune favoured Kilbride on this occasion and the final score was Kilbride 1.10 St. Croan’s 0.8. The play off match will be against Strokestown and more than likely will not take place until after the exams. Finally, our thoughts and prayers are with the young boys and girls that made their First Holy Communion in Derrane Church on Saturday May 12th and on Sunday May 20th in Fourmilehouse Church. ST FAITHLEACH’S St Faithleach’s U-14 Ladies won the Division 3B Shield Final in a tightly contested game against Elphin in Tarmonbarry on Sunday 20th May. The final score was St Faithleach’s 0-6 Elphin 0-4. A rally by Elphin in the second half led to a nail biting finish, with several attempts at goal being saved by Faithleach’s keeper, Bronagh Donlon. The St Faithleach’s forwards too made several attacks on the Elphin goal, but Elphin’s keeper, Deborah Beirne, was steadfast in defence. Player of the Match was awarded to Laura McLoone.  Captain Róisín Collier accepted the trophy on behalf of St Failthleach’s and paid tribute to match referee, Pat Henehan, to Elphin for a fine display of football and sporting spirit, to her team mates, manager Jimmy Brennan, selector Patricia Manning and to St Barry’s Club for hosting the game. St Faithleach’s player Claire Cleary was injured during the match, though thankfully not too seriously, and replaced by substitute, Ruth Kelly.   St Faithleach’s: Bronagh Donlon, Maire Farrell, Claire Brennan, Aoife Kenny, Laura McCloone, Roísín Collier, Caitríona Maher, Aisling Ormsby, Claire Cleary.  Subs: Ruth Kelly, Sarah Brennan. Manager Jimmy Brennan. Selector Patricia Manning.
