Once again for our lads, so close and yet so far. The team are trying so hard, and deserve far better than they have got in terms of points. Whelan’s Quarries sponsored junior team were unlucky to drop a point against St. Josephs on Saturday evening. Despite early superiority, St. Dominics were guilty of some poor shooting and it was the men in red and black that scored first with their first attack yielding a point. Seamus McKeown evened things up and further points were swapped (Anthony Kelly). St. Josephs gained more of a strangle hold on midfield and they went two points up. However Ciaran Hunt fisted a high ball to the net to regain the lead and when Alan Craven tapped over, St. Dominics were two ahead.  A purple patch for "The Joes" followed; a very dubious penalty was converted as well as a free and a superb goal from play. A five-point lead did not reflect fairly on the play. But when Kilteevan’s finest goaled immediately after the restart, St. Dominics looked like completely capitulating. But the spirit of St. Dominics had not died and points from Alan Craven (free), Anthony Kelly and Adrian Brennan helped make it 3-7 to 1-7 with 11 minutes remaining. The visitors were rewarded when they were awarded a penalty and Anthony Kelly made no mistake to leave 3 points in it. St. Dominics calmly continued their onslaught and points from Seamus McKeown and Anthony Kelly gave David O’Connor the opportunity to level the match. The veteran made no mistake and the result was the least St. Dominics deserved.  Team: Naos Connaughton; Padraig Carney; Declan Kilcline; Lorcan Shine; Ian Naughton; Niall Fallon; David Corcoran; Anthony Naughton; Adrian Brennan (0-1); Anthony Kelly (1-3, 1 pen, 1 free); Tomas Gilleran; Declan Brennan; Alan Cravan (0-3, 3 frees); Ciaran Hunt (1-0); Seamus McKeown (0-2); Subs: Trevor Brennan for T Gilleran; David O’Connor (0-1) for Declan Brennan; Andrew Grady for Lorcan Shine (inj.); Sean Ridley for Niall Fallon; ELPHIN O’Rourke Cup: Elphin 1-10 St. Aidans 1-6. The senior team kept up their good form with a hard earned win over a spirited St. Aidans outfit on Friday evening last in the Orchard Park. Having gone in at the interval leading by 4 points, they produced a very determined second half performance to ensure the win. Team: Shane Reynolds, Brendan Neary, Brian Cregg, Ronan Brady, Darragh Neary, Paddy O’Connor, James Callery, Brian Higgins, Shane Tiernan, Brendan Rock, Stuart Roddy, Paul Conlon, John Collins, Colm Rock, Fintan Cregg. ST BRIGID’S Seniors: St Brigid’s  5-6 Kilmore  0-10: The Hodson Bay Hotel sponsored Senior got back to winning ways with a good win over Kilmore on Sunday last. This was a good win but our inability to kick points will have to be worked on, as we are not always going to able to compensate for this by scoring goals. Subs: D Nestor, C Broughall, R Gilligan. Intermediate: St Brigid’s 0-7 St Croan’s 0-11: Our Intermediate team suffered defeat at the hands of a more determined St Croans in Ballintubber on Saturday evening last.
