CASTLEREA ST KEVINS Training for all adult players will continue on Saturday at 7 pm sharp; those who have not yet paid their membership should do so on Saturday night. Well done to Roscommon on their great display against Meath on Sunday last; it was a courageous effort by all involved, not least our own three representatives, Geoffrey Claffey, Gerard Heneghan and Enda Kenny. The St Brigids Club must be complimented for their excellent handling of the fixture. Last week we forgot to congratulate both Enda Kenny and Michael Killilea who were members of the Roscommon U-21 team that won the Hastings Cup. We extend sincere sympathy to Paddy & Brendan Duignan, Knockroe, on the death of their father Michael Duignan, Drumlion; we also extend sympathy to the Beirne Family, Ballindrimley, on the death of PJ Beirne. CLANN NA NGAEL Last Friday saw the launch of the Athlone Springs partnership with Clann na nGael. The launch, at the hotel itself, is the start of a 3 year deal with Athlone Springs sponsoring the Club to the value of €20,000 a year.  The minors play Roscommon Gaels in Hyde Park next Sunday at 1pm in the Minor League. Race night in Mullingar Greyhound Stadium on Saturday 22 nd March. A reminder to all that tickets for this event must be returned to the race committee or to Johnstown on Friday.   EIRE OG The underage presentation and registration night is on Friday 29th February in Gorthaganny Hall at 8.30 pm. KILGLASS GAELS The club would like to sympathise with Jim & Diane Tighe on the recent and sad death of Diane’s brother Fergal Mulleady of Drumlish last week.  Congratulations to Thomas & Tina Tighe on the recent birth of their son John – a possible full back for the club!! Also congrats to Grace Kelly and Joey Casey on their marriage. We wish them every health & happiness  together. Our minor boys played Elphin on Sunday last and unfortunately lost by five points. The parish league takes place on Saturday 23rd February. The club Dinner Dance takes place on Friday 7th March in the Shannon Key West. Tickets now on sale at €35. Music by the Formula. Guest of honour is Dermot Earley.  KILMORE The annual Dinner Dance takes place on Saturday night in the Shannon Key West Hotel in Rooskey at 8.30 pm and music will be provided by Nitefever. The evening will begin with Mass in Aughrim church at 7pm. A bus will leave for the Dinner Dance after Mass and will call by Hillstreet at 7.50pm and the Community Centre Kilmore at 8pm. The club urges all players, parents of players, club members and all members of the parish to support this year’s dinner dance. PADRAIG PEARSES Our minors were beaten in the first round of the league by a stronger Brigid’s team in Kiltoom last Sunday week. The lads gave a spirited performance and can come away from it in the knowledge that they have strength in depth in the panel this year. Next outing is Sunday 24 th February at 1 pm against Castlerea in Pairc an Phiarsaigh. Our Dinner Dance will take place on Friday 22 nd February in Guillane’s Hotel. Golf Society’s AGM will take place in the clubhouse on Monday 25 th February at 9pm.   ROSCOMMON GAELS  Well done to Roscommon on their good display against Meath and especially to David O’Gara who played very well. Training for all ladies U-14 footballers will take place in Hyde Park at 11.45am every Saturday. There will be a meeting on Saturday 23 rd February for all ladies U-16 Minor and Senior players at 7pm sharp. All players please attend. Training for U-14 boys at Hyde Park every Saturday at 6pm and every Monday at 6pm. U-16 training at Hyde Park at 7.30pm each Thursday.  Senior and junior football training every Wednesday at 7.30pm and Friday at 8.30pm at Hyde Park. ST AIDANS  The Minors had a successful start to the league with an excellent win over Kilbride on a score of 5-11 to 2-04. Check fixtures for next game. St Aidans won Roscommon Club Grounds of the year at a recent club development awards at the T F Royal Hotel Castlebar. Great credit to David Kelly and the FAS workers for all their hard work throughout the year and to everyone else who helped out. Kilglass has a great record in this event, and great praise should go to Nuala Diffley for all her work. We extend sympathy to the Deely and Keenan families, Tarmonbarry on the death of Angela Deely, Tarmonbarry. Our U-16 footballers continue their preparations for the start of the Season.  The Club is presently looking for a Junior trainer in Ladies Football for the up-coming Winter league.  ST FAITHLEACHS  Mr & Mrs Show: A great night’s entertainment was had on Friday last in the Clubhouse. ST JOSEPHS   St. Joseph’s GAA club is holding a table quiz in Paddy Finn’s pub, Kilteevan on Friday 29th February at 9pm. Tables of 4 €€40, or €€10 per person. All money raised will go towards the purchase of a defibrillator for Kilteevan community. Spot prizes and raffle on the night. Your support would be greatly appreciated. Training continues at 7pm on Saturday evening. Players are requested to attend, as the league will be starting shortly. Any outstanding membership of €€30 or €€15 for students should be given to club treasurer Alec Dempsey. ST RONANS The minor team was unlucky in defeat against Ballinmeen on Sunday last. After ten minutes Ronans were behind by 1-6 to no score. However with ten minutes left in the game Ronans managed to get within one point of the opposition but luck was with the home side. Training continues on Wednesday and Friday nights at 8pm in Ballyfarnon. Minors play St Domnics in Knockcroghery next Sunday 24th at 12am. Contact Sean Martin or Damien Killoran.  STROKESTOWN  Training for Junior and Senior football continues Thursday at 8pm in the community centre and Saturday at 6pm in the football field. All players are asked to please attend. The ‘300 club’ is about to commence for 2008. This is the main fundraiser for the clubs new pitch development at Lisroyne. Anyone wishing to subscribe or re-subscribe to the draw would be greatly appreciated. For further details please contact any club or committee member. TULSK The club, players and some officials have just returned from a weekend trip to watch Sunderland beat Wigan in the Stadium of Light. Many thanks to Barry Miley for all the work that he put into organizing the trip.  In the Parish league, the favourites Killina took the honours, beating Tulsk in the final, it was a tough game and Killina had a great first half, a goal in the early stages put them ahead and despite a late rally by Tulsk, Killina defended their lead impeccably and were worthy winners. Killina Capt Joe Cunnanne passed out the trophies and Stephen McCormack picked up player of the tournament. Many thanks to Ref Vivian Hardiman with Haulie Beirne and Johnny Ice Hession. In the 3 rd and 4 th playoff Kilmurray took 3 rd spot. Membership is now due and must be paid to Matt O’Connell or Brian McGarry immediately. Underage: U-8s together with U-10s start training on Friday evening from 7-8pm at Tulsk pitch. U-14s have met on Monday night and further sessions will be announced at training. U-16s continue on Wednesday evening.  Indoor Hurling and Camogie continues on Saturday at 11am. All players need to attend to make arrangements for upcoming challenge matches.  If you have not paid your registration fee of €20 to your manager, please do so this week at training. If you are not registered you are not eligible to play in the forthcoming matches.   ORAN Training for all juniors on Wednesdays and Fridays at 8pm in Rockfield. The Tansey Cup will be starting next weekend (March 1st and 2nd).  The football club would like to wish McDermott’s Pub the best of luck in the county darts semi finals. ST CROANS Another good performance saw the minor team defeat Boyle in the league on Sunday last. A fine team display, with some well-taken points saw Croans convincing winners on a score of 1-14 to 2-1 Next weekend the lotto will be promoted by Padraig Grogan and Padraig Regan in Ballintubber and Tommy timothy in Ballymoe.   ST CIARANS Football training begins for U-14 girls next Sunday 24th in Mulhern Park at 5pm. St. Ciarans Gaelic Football Club will hold their A.G.M. in the Meeting Room, Waldron’s Bar, Athleague on Friday evening, 29th February, at 9 pm. All are invited to come and review the year gone by and plan for the year ahead. New members especially welcome.  MINOR STROKESTOWN There was no minor league game last weekend so we had a challenge against Sheemore Gaels of Leitrim on Sunday morning. A good game of football on Leitrim Gael’s fine new pitch resulted in a win for Strokestown The league resumes next Sunday when we play St. Ciaran’s at 3 pm. in Strokestown.  Minor AGM took place on Sunday and details will be in next week’s notes. Please note there will be a minor presentation night on Saturday 15 th . March.    HURLING FOUR ROADS  There was a good turnout last Friday at our Dinner Dance in the Abbey Hotel and a great night was had by all. Congrats to all who received Awards. David Dowd received minor player of the year. Micheal Kelly received senior player. Kieran Coyle received clubman of the year. Last weekend our underage hurlers played against Ballinasloe in the Suck Valley League. Our U-12s recorded a good win, but our U-14s, U-16s and U-18s were defeated. We were missing players at each of these levels, so heads up lads.   This weekend sees us at home against Athleague in the next round of the Suck Valley League. ATHLEAGUE The annual club development draw was held last weekend. Congratulations to all our winners and thanks to all for your support. ORAN U-14 hurling training under Andrew Fallon and Gerry Keenan will commence on Saturday at 4.30 pm in Rockfield.  Last Sunday Oran had a big win over Roscommon Gaels in the U-21 hurling championship. Oran played well and finished convincing winners.   CAMOGIE ATHLEAGUE  All senior players are requested to attend training on Sunday as the League is commencing on the following weekend. Players will be notified of the venue and time during the week. Training for the U-14 team will take place on Saturday. All U-14 players will be contacted as the championship begins within the next 2 weeks. The Club dinner dance takes place on Saturday night in conjunction with the Hurling Club in the Abbey Hotel. Senior Club member, Fiona Connell is a member of the Garda team that qualified for the knockout stages of the Ashbourne Cup, which takes place this weekend in Belfast. Ciara Moran, another Senior Club member, trains the team. We wish both of them the best of luck in the finals. FOUR ROADS Thanks to all parents and players for attending our registration evening. If you were unable to attend you can still register by contacting committee members. The annual Hurling and Camogie Dinner Dance took place on Friday, February 15 th in the Abbey hotel. A great night was had by all. Awards on the night were presented to Pat Barrett – Club person of the year, Síobhan Coyle – Senior player of the year, Aisling Fallon – Junior player of the year and Catherine Rogerson – Minor player of the year.  The Camogie club has joined forces with the Ladies Football club, under the name Four Roads Ladies Development, to raise money for the running of both clubs. Tickets are currently available from all club members. The draw will take place on Easter Monday. Tickets are €10 or a book of 6 for €50. Your support would be greatly appreciated.
