CLANN NA NGAEL Last Friday saw the launch of the Athlone Springs partnership with Clann na nGael. The launch, at the hotel itself, is the start of a 3 year deal with Athlone Springs sponsoring the Club to the value of €20,000 a year. TULSK The club, players and some officials have just returned from a weekend trip to watch Sunderland beat Wigan in the Stadium of Light. Many thanks to Barry Miley for all the work that he put into organizing the trip. In the Parish league, the favourites Killina took the honours, beating Tulsk in the final, it was a tough game and Killina had a great first half, a goal in the early stages put them ahead and despite a late rally by Tulsk, Killina defended their lead impeccably and were worthy winners. Killina Capt Joe Cunnanne passed out the trophies and Stephen McCormack picked up player of the tournament. Many thanks to Ref Vivian Hardiman with Haulie Beirne and Johnny Ice Hession. In the 3 rd and 4 th playoff Kilmurray took 3 rd spot. Membership is now due and must be paid to Matt O’Connell or Brian McGarry immediately. Underage: U-8s together with U-10s start training on Friday evening from 7-8pm at Tulsk pitch. U-14s have met on Monday night and further sessions will be announced at training. U-16s continue on Wednesday evening. Indoor Hurling and Camogie continues on Saturday at 11am. All players need to attend to make arrangements for upcoming challenge matches. ST CIARANS Football training begins for U-14 girls next Sunday 24th in Mulhern Park at 5pm. MINOR STROKESTOWN There was no minor league game last weekend so we had a challenge against Sheemore Gaels of Leitrim on Sunday morning. A good game of football on Leitrim Gael’s fine new pitch resulted in a win for Strokestown The league resumes next Sunday when we play St. Ciaran’s at 3 pm. in Strokestown. Minor AGM took place on Sunday and details will be in next week’s notes. Please note there will be a minor presentation night on Saturday 15 th . March. HURLING FOUR ROADS There was a good turnout last Friday at our Dinner Dance in the Abbey Hotel and a great night was had by all. Congrats to all who received Awards. David Dowd received minor player of the year. Micheal Kelly received senior player. Kieran Coyle received clubman of the year. Last weekend our underage hurlers played against Ballinasloe in the Suck Valley League. Our U-12s recorded a good win, but our U-14s, U-16s and U-18s were defeated. We were missing players at each of these levels, so heads up lads. This weekend sees us at home against Athleague in the next round of the Suck Valley League. ATHLEAGUE The annual club development draw was held last weekend. Congratulations to all our winners and thanks to all for your support. ORAN U-14 hurling training under Andrew Fallon and Gerry Keenan will commence on Saturday at 4.30 pm in Rockfield. Last Sunday Oran had a big win over Roscommon Gaels in the U-21 hurling championship. Oran played well and finished convincing winners. CAMOGIE ATHLEAGUE All senior players are requested to attend training on Sunday as the League is commencing on the following weekend. Players will be notified of the venue and time during the week. Training for the U-14 team will take place on Saturday. All U-14 players will be contacted as the championship begins within the next 2 weeks. The Club dinner dance takes place on Saturday night in conjunction with the Hurling Club in the Abbey Hotel. Senior Club member, Fiona Connell is a member of the Garda team that qualified for the knockout stages of the Ashbourne Cup, which takes place this weekend in Belfast. Ciara Moran, another Senior Club member, trains the team. We wish both of them the best of luck in the finals. FOUR ROADS Thanks to all parents and players for attending our registration evening. If you were unable to attend you can still register by contacting committee members. The annual Hurling and Camogie Dinner Dance took place on Friday, February 15 th in the Abbey hotel. A great night was had by all. Awards on the night were presented to Pat Barrett – Club person of the year, Síobhan Coyle – Senior player of the year, Aisling Fallon – Junior player of the year and Catherine Rogerson – Minor player of the year. The Camogie club has joined forces with the Ladies Football club, under the name Four Roads Ladies Development, to raise money for the running of both clubs. Tickets are currently available from all club members. The draw will take place on Easter Monday. Tickets are €10 or a book of 6 for €50. Your support would be greatly appreciated.
