CREGGS The Annual General Meeting of Creggs GAA Club will take place on Saturday 26th January in Kilbegnet hall at 8 pm sharp. All members are requested to attend. CASTLEREA ST KEVIN’S All adult players – senior, intermediate, junior and U-21 will meet with the various team managements in the O’Rourke Centre on Saturday at 8pm sharp. As this is the first get together of the year it is important that every player attend and please bring along your membership as registration will also take place on the night; remember you must have your membership paid in order to be covered by insurance. Two of our former team managers have taken on management roles with other clubs; Seamus Egan is now with Ballyhaunis and Eddie Egan is with Elphin; we wish both the best of luck provided it is not at the expense of Castlerea St Kevins. EIRE OG Our club’s AGM was held in the Loughglynn Community Centre on 12 th January. The following officers were elected: Presidents Patsy Larkin and Chap Timothy; Vice-Presidents Fr. A players’ representative has yet to be elected. The AGM of our club’s Bord na nOg takes place on Thursday 24 th January in Loughglynn Community Centre at 8pm.  The Club wishes to extend its sympathy to the Hora, Morgan, McDonnell and Regan families on their recent bereavements.       ELPHIN Minor Board AGM was held on Friday 18th January. Gerry Beirne and Brendan Fox gave detailed summaries for 2007. Selected officers for 2008: Chairman Gerry Beirne, Secretary Brendan Fox, PRO Kevin Beirne. All agreed that a ‘coaching committee’ would be established to deal with all underage panels. Peter Carney agreed to head this committee. Also highlighted was the dire need for more support from the general community.  John Kelly was selected as U-10’s manager, Brendan Fox and Gerry Beirne will manage U-12’s.  The club wishes to extend its sympathy with Liam Staunton and his family on the death of his brother John. KILGLASS GAELS Kilglass Gaels won the figure dancing competition for the first time ever at the Connacht finals of Scor in Claremorris. We also brought back the Connacht title in question time for the 6th time in 7 years.  Figure dancing team: Rebecca Coyle, Rachel  Coyle, Antoinette McCormack, Katie King, Caroline Conroy, Natalie McHugh, Rachel Corcoran, Sinead Connellan; Mentors Louise Tully & Martina McHugh. Membership should be paid as soon as possible to registrar Gerry Connellan or Minor board secretary Chris Gannon.  The annual dinner dance is on Saturday 23 rd February in the Shannon Key West.  Best of luck to all Kilmore players and the team that represent King & Moffat/Hillstreet quarries in the All Ireland semi final in Killarney on Saturday.    PADRAIG PEARSES  The presentation of medals by Fergal O’Donnell to the Minor Football Championship winning team will take place at a special function in the Clubhouse on Saturday 26 th January starting with Mass at 8.30pm all are welcome. ST AIDANS  The Minors got the year underway with a useful challenge match against Roscommon Gaels, with Roscommon Gaels winning in the end. ST BARRYS  AGM took place in the Community Centre on Friday night with a big turnout and good open and frank debate on a number of issues. ST CROANS AGM of St. Croans marked the end of a very successful year for the club both on and off the field. The club expressed its sympathy to the families of Tom Lane, John Tiernan and Mattie Kilroy, former Tremane club players. The club also extended its sympathy to the Lohan family, Mote Park, the Melia family, Mote Park, the Killion family, Athleague, the Reynolds family, Ballymurray and the Gately family, Fearbreagues on their bereavements. The annual club draw was held in the Bridge House, Athleague on 4 th January. We would like thank all sponsors of the draw prizes and spot prizes and also, all ticket sellers and buyers who helped to make the draw a great success. Very Important: A Mass will be held for the late Mattie Kilroy in Athleague Church on Friday 25 th January at 8 p.m. TULSK Our club presentation evening will be held on Friday 25th at the Percy, Strokestown at 9pm. Club Awards will be presented to Intermediate, Junior and U-21 Players, Clubperson of the Year and the Hall of Fame Award. A hot buffet will be served and music will be by Dean Lane and Graceland. Admission €20.  Our first parish league started on Sunday. Reigning champions Kilmurray played Tulsk village, Kilmurray went into the break 4points up. Tulsk upped their game in the 2 nd half and won by 5 in the end. In the next game Castleplunkett took on the Killina men, in the end a late controversial goal by Michael G Doorley put space between the sides and Killina went on to win. The games were played in Lissalway. The ref was Gerry Hayes and many thanks to him. We will launch this years 300 Club on Saturday 23rd February in Simpson’s pub.  An executive meeting will be held on Monday at 8:30 pm followed by a general club meeting at 9:15 pm.   MINOR STROKESTOWN An indoor GAA coaching skills course will take place next Saturday in the community centre for beginners up to age ten. It will run for 4 Saturdays starting at 12.30 PM and is open to boys and girls.  The cost is €10 and further details can be had from Declan at 087 2484530. HURLING FOUR ROADS Best of luck to the new management team and selectors for senior and junior teams for 2008.  A hurling coaching workshop for U-10 players, with Paudie Butler and Damien Coleman takes place on Thursday 24 th at 7pm in Four Roads, anyone with an interest in underage coaching should attend. Senior and Junior hurling training to commence on Saturday in Ballyforan Hall at 6 pm. All players to attend.  Finally the club would like to extend its sympathy to the Galvin family on the recent death of Maureen Galvin, and to the Gately family of Keel on the death of Eamonn Gately, may they rest in peace. ATHLEAGUE AT our AGM Chairman Anthony Flaherty paid tribute to the teams and officials from underage to senior level. He paid special tribute to the senior team and management on retaining the Micky Cunniffe Cup. He stated that we played 3 finals at underage level and urged more people to get involved. He thanked the sponsors and all who helped out during the year. He congratulated the County Senior and U-21 teams, especially all involved from the club. He also congratulated the Camogie team on retaining their County title and thanked Fuerty for the use of their facilities.  Secretary Robert McConn gave a comprehensive report on club activities. He endorsed much of what the chairman said, paid tribute to Johnny Haughey and thanked everyone for their help during the year. Treasurer Gerry Naughton produced a detailed account of club finances. The meeting concluded with votes of sympathy to all families within the parish who suffered bereavements during the year.   TULSK HURLING & CAMOGIE  Hurling and Camogie Indoor League starts on Saturday, January 26, 2008 in the Fourmilehouse Community Centre at 11 am. All players to attend. All new players welcome.  CAMOGIE ROSCOMMON GAELS  After a lapse of many years camogie was revived in Roscommon town last week. A committee was elected and mentors were appointed. Officers for 2008 are: Chairperson Jackie Comiskey, Secretary Patricia Connolly and PRO: Teresa Hession.   It was decided to enter 3 teams in the competitions for the 2008 season at U-12, U-14 and U-16 age groups. The U-14 & U16 girls will train together with Mary McNeill, Seanie Mulry, Liz O’Rourke and Nuala Hughes as coaches and Teresa Hession, Francie Hoare and Michael Kelly will coach the U-12 group. The U-8 and U-10 girls will train with the boys over the summer. Training is on Friday evening in the Convent gym. Boys and girls aged 6 – 8 from 4 – 5pm and boys and girls aged 9 & 10 from 5-6pm. All players are welcome to attend these sessions, which cost €2 per child. All those involved in coaching teams will have to complete a coaching course and a Code of Ethics course, which will take place in February and the club will cover the cost of the courses. Michael Gleeson, Chairperson of the Ros Gaels Minor Board addressed the meeting and offered support and help from Ros Gaels GAA club to those involved in the camogie. ATHLEAGUE  The Secretary gave a very detailed account of the activities of the Club at the recent AGM and the Treasurer reported a fairly healthy financial position. Registration U-16’s  €25, Over 16’s/Students €35; Seniors/Adults €40; 2 children per family €45; 3 children per family €60.   Trainers of under-age players will have to attend a Code of Ethics Training Course if they have not already attended one. Draw is on Saturday, 16 th February in Waldron’s. Camogie members are requested to support the draw.   Indoor Camogie continues on Friday at 7 pm in the Community Centre, Athleague. All U-12 players are requested to come along.  ORAN The figure raised in the Turkey Cup was €2,401.38. Many thanks to the organising committee, Dunnes Stores and all the volunteers who helped on the day.
