Roscommon Gaels Family Night: Our Family Night has been provisionally fixed for Friday, 7 December in The Hyde Centre. The date will be confirmed in the coming week and more details in next week’s issue.  Club draw: Our fund-raising club draw for the pitch development at Lisnamult will take place on Friday, 7 December in the Hyde Centre. Tickets are €20 each and are currently on sale from club members. Prizes are 1 x €2000, 2 x €500, 1 x €300, 1 x €200 and 5 x €100.  Work on pitch development is presently ongoing. The main pitch has now been laid and seeded. Work on the floodlights will commence at a later stage. We appeal for your support for our fund-raising efforts.  General meeting: A club meeting will take place this coming Thursday, 1 November, in the Hyde Centre at 9.15 pm. Motions and nominations for the upcoming Co. Board convention will take place at the meeting.  AGM: Our Club AGM has been fixed for Sunday, 16 December in the Hyde Centre at 2 pm. Nomination papers and details will be issued to all club members shortly.  Bingo: Bingo every Sunday night in the Hyde Centre at 8.30 pm. Valuable prizes.  Lotto: Numbers drawn were 8, 11, 15 and 16. No jackpot winner. €30 winners were Thomas Carr (c/o Mona), Marie McDonagh (c/o O. Connolly), Kathleen Carr (c/o Mona), Mary Dolan (c/o Mona) and Tony Lovely (c/o Hyde). Next week’s jackpot is €1,300.  U-14 football: Our under-14 football club league will take place this coming Saturday, 3 November in Hyde Park at 11.30 am. All players aged 12, 13 and 14 are asked to attend at 11.30.  Naomh Dominic The overall Executive (Club) AGM will take place on Sunday, 25 th November. All committees are requested to have their AGMs prior to this. Our Intermediate team play Moycullen in the Connacht Semi-Final on this Saturday 3 rd Nov at a Galway venue. Check Fixture list for venue and time. St. Dominics played a very entertaining challange against Kilmore on Sunday last in Knockcroghery and many of the fringe players played very well and will be pushing hard for a place on Saturday. We encourage as many as possible to come along and support the lads on Saturday. CDs of the Intermediate Final are available from John Caulfield. Presentation of the medals to winners of U-12A, U18A, Junior teams and U-14 runners-up  will take place in Culleen Hall on this Friday, 2nd November at 8.30 pm.  U-12, U14, U-16 and U-18 Players of the year will be presented. All players are asked to attend. All are welcome. All trainers involved in ladies Football and interested parents are invited to attend informal gathering in Culleen hall on Wed. 7 th Nov. 2007 at 9 pm. Our Minor Ladies put in another good performance on Saturday last when going down narrowly to a very good St Faithleachs side. Our next game is against Oran next weekend in Knockcroghery. Following on from one of the most successful seasons to date the Minor Board will have their  presentations in Culleen Hall on this Sunday. The format will be as follows: 4 pm- Presentations to Beginners, U-8s and U-10s.  4.45 pm- Presentations to U-12 and U-14 Championship Winners. Special Guests on the evening. Our Annual Weekend away takes place this Year on Friday 9 th and Saturday 10 th November in Donegal. The course is Mervue just outside Donegal Town and the Hotel in the Abbey in Donegal Town. Places are limited and anyone interested in travelling please contact Eddie Miley (086-2561563) by this weekend. St. Barry’s The County Junior Final takes place on Sunday next in Tulsk. Check fixture lists  in this paper for exact time of starting. We are asking all parishoners to fly the green and white of Barry’s proudly outside their houses and we also ask you to turn out in large numbers for the match. This will be a tough and difficult match against Creggs and it could well be down to the travelling support to rally the troops for the final push over the line. We wish the players and management the best of luck and we hope they can bring back the cup to Tarmonbarry/Scramogue. The numbers drawn in last week’s lotto were 19, 2, 7, 3. There was no jackpot winner. €80 Colette McEvoy; €40 Niamh Cassidy; €30 Liz Edwards. Next week’s draw takes place in Costello’s and the jackpot will be €7,200. The new developments are about to commence at the clubhouse, and when finished will greatly improve facilities there. This will be a very costly job and we are asking all in the parish to support us financially with this new project. The work on the centre will be carried out by local contractors, Colligan Bros.  Boyle There will be a Special Meeting for all Club Members on Friday, November 2nd at 9.00 pm in St. Joseph’s Resource Centre to discuss plans for 2008. Keep watching the fixture list for details of the under 16 League Final. Castlerea St. Kevin’s Our U 21 team lost their Bus Eireann semi final to St. Brigids on Saturday evening last in Fuerty; final score St. Brigids 2-5, Castlerea St. Kevin’s 0-7. The team got off to a great start and we were well in command when half-back Michael Egan got injured. Congratulations to our under 16 hurlers on their victory over St Dominic’s in the first round of the new 9-a-side section of the competition. Despite the inclement weather, it was a fine open game of hurling. Scores were hard to come by but our lads made the most of their chances to come away with the points. At the monthly meeting of the club on Tuesday night last the Annual General Meeting was fixed for Saturday night, 1 st December at 7.00 pm in the O’Rourke Centre. 5, 8, 17 and 22 were the numbers drawn in this week’s Lucky Numbers draw. There was no winner so next week’s Jackpot goes to €6,850 with the draw in Silke’s Bar on Friday night next. €40 winners on the night were Sean Kelly Jnr, Alan Freeman, Madeline O’Donnell, John Callaghan (Cloontrask), Maura O’Connell and Marie Mahoney. A general meeting of members takes place in the Clubhouse on Tuesday 30th October at 8.30 pm. Our Minor Club AGM will take place on Friday 16th November in the Clubhouse at 8.00 pm sharp. All parents of Minor players for the coming year are asked to attend. Kilglass Gaels Our minor girls played Strokestown in the championship in Strokestown and won in the end with a good team performance against a good Strokestown team.  On Sunday the u16 boys team played St. Michaels in the league semi final in Kilmore. We got off to a good start and were unlucky to lose by a point. The Kilglass Gaels trip to Croke Park and Adventure Centre in Dublin takes place on Sat. next, 3rd Nov.  The bus will leave Rooskey Car Park at 8 a.m. and return at 8 p.m. Contact Niall Kilcrann at 087 7640679. Tulsk The 3 rd 300 club draw will take place in Devines Pub at 10.30 pm on Saturday 3rd November 2007. The first prize is a 1500 euro holiday voucher for two, 2nd prize – 500 euro, 3rd prize 250 euro and 4th, 5th, 6th, 7th and 8th prizes 100 euro each. We wish all our 300 club members the best of luck and we thank you for your continued support. Our Ladies wing, St. Mary’s, had a Disco and fun night out in Tulsk Inn last week. Paddy O’Connor presented medals to the victorious U-14 and U-16 teams. Thanks to all that helped out selling tickets and making sandwiches. If anyone has any queries about the night out then please contact Steve Fahey on 086 8479780.  St. Croan’s The curtain came down on the intermediate season on Saturday last when the team was defeated by Western Gaels by one point in the O’Gara Cup semi-final. Western Gaels were narrowly ahead throughout. St. Michaels  The U-16 team defeated Kilglass Gaels by two points in the league semi-final in Kilmore on Sunday. The team were short some key players and deserve tremendous credit for reaching the league final after their championship disappointment against Ballinameen. McQuaid.    The U-21’s will also be in action in Elphin on Sunday when they meet Oran in the Division 3 semi-final at 2.30 p.m.   The U-12 team took part in a tournament organised by the Clonguish club in Longford on Saturday. They won four games and were defeated in the semi-final by the eventual winners, St. Dominics. The club thanks Clonguish for the invitation to take part in the tournament. The team and management had an enjoyable day.       There was no jackpot or match-3 winner in the lotto draw held in Beirne’s Battlebridge at the weekend. The numbers drawn were 5, 6, 13 and 19. The five envelope draw winners were Maeve Guckian, Rockingham, Padraic Regan, Oxhill, Colm Lenehan, Cootehall, David Kelly, Cootehall and D. Dunny.    Next draw on Saturday week.  Padraig Pearses Senior Hurling Final: Pearses 1-10 Athleague 2-11: Padraig Pearses senior hurlers lost out to Athleague for the second year in a row in the County championship final replay last Sunday in Athleague. (see match report). Padraig Pearses would like to congratulate the management and team for a fine effort this year and hope that they will go one step further next year. Jimmy Hardiman RIP: It is with great sadness that we learned of the death of Jimmy Hardiman last Sunday morning, Jimmy was a great servant to Padraig Pearses being heavily involved with this year’s triumphant minor champions as well as numerous other teams in recent years and will be greatly missed by the club, RIP. AGM: The Padraig Pearses Football board AGM will take place on Sunday, 4th November at 8 pm sharp, all members are asked to attend. Check out our website:     Hurling   Tremane The club would like to say well done to Peter Lynch for completing the Adidas Dublin City Marathon. Peter raised a substantial amount of money for the Irish Heart Foundation. Camogie  Athleague  There were scenes of great excitement in Athleague on Saturday afternoon last when the Club won their second senior title in a row against old rivals Four Roads on the score line of 4 goals 4 pts to 2 goals 9 pts (match report elsewhere).    The team now contest the All-Ireland Junior Club semi-final on Saturday next, 3 rd November, 2007 against the All-Ireland Club champions, Harps from Laois in Duggan Park, Ballinasloe at 1.00 p.m.     On the following Sunday they will be contesting the Connacht Intermediate Club Final against Killimor from Galway. This final will be played in Athleague.   Three players from the club were forced to miss the final as they were out of the country at weddings but they sent messages to the team before the final wishing them all the best. Another member of last year’s winning team, goalkeeper Paula Daly is also out of the country at the moment and she also sent a good luck message to the team prior to the game.     After the game the team went on a tour of the village and had a meal in Cattigan’s of Castlecoote afterwards.   The club would like to thank Cattigan’s for sponsoring the jerseys for the team and Brid Miller, Solicitor who sponsored t-shirts for the players and management.   The panel of players who brought Athleague its second senior title in a row was as follows: Fiona Connell, Catriona Muray, Niamh Connolly, Audrey Delaney, Leanne Raftery, Ciara Moran, Michelle McCormack, Annette McGeeney (captain), Elaine Daly, Muireann Melia, Louise Connolly, Niamh Mulhern, Grace Naughton, Rachael Fallon, Kelley Hopkins, Maeve Kilroy, Siobhan Moran, Aisling O’Boyle, Elaine Neilan, Mary Murray, Sarah Keaveney, Rachel Neilan and Aisling McConn.   The management team for this year’s team was Ann Connell, Tony Brennan, David Kelly and Mary Finneran.   Supporters are asked to come and support the team in the All-Ireland Club semi-final on this Saturday at 1.00 p.m. in Duggan Park, Ballinasloe.
