Roscommon Junior ‘B’ Football Championship Final: Clan na nGael 2-9 Roscommon Gaels 2-6
Clann na nGael were more economical in front of goal, and that added to the fact that Roscommon Gaels conceded two soft goals meant that the 2016 Junior ‘B’ title went to the home side at Johnstown last Friday night.
The Gaels shot 12 wides to Clann’s 4, and goals of the very soft variety from Clann’s David Griffin and Eddie McLoughlin within five minutes in the first half proved crucial. Dara O’Gara replied with a ‘Gaels goal and at half-time Clann led by two points.
But the Gaels were level early in the second half. Following two Clann points, a second goal for Dara O’Gara and a Luke Burgoyne point saw the town side tie it up. But it was Clann who finished the better side. Late points from Eoin Hannon and Darragh Glynn proved decisive as the Gaels missed some easy chances in the final 10 minutes.
