It emerged at the monthly meeting of Roscommon County Council, held on Monday, that a five-screen cinema could be on the way to Roscommon town. Roscommon is one of the few counties in Ireland which does not have a cinema at present. During a discussion on cinema and bowling facilities for the county, Cllr. Tony Waldron (Fianna Fail) said that talks were underway with a cinema operator about the possibility of opening a five-screen cinema in Roscommon town. Cllr. Waldron said that the discussions were ongoing and he was hopeful of a positive outcome and an announcement in due course.
