Swing is back in vogue and the revival of swing music in the UK is being mirrored in Ireland and indeed Roscommon, where fans of favourites such as Frank Sinatra, Bing Crosby and Nat King Cole can look forward to a festive show full of Christmas favourites. Irish born David Tughan, playing Frank Sinatra, is a successful jazz singer with two critically acclaimed albums. He is joined by Jez Unwin who created the role of Bing Crosby in our previous production ‘Legends of Swing’ and is returning to play the king of the crooners in this new festive production. Jez has just finished Martin Guerre at the Watermill Theatre, Newbury and previous to that he was in Evita in the West End. Ex-professional footballer Jim Whitley makes up the trio, playing Nat King Cole. He has kicked off his boots and developed quite a repertoire as a solo performer on both the variety and corporate circuit. This truly international cast are backed by the superb Jazz All-Stars band perform over 30 hits including ‘Chestnuts roasting on an open fire’, ‘Little Drummer Boy’, ‘White Christmas’ and many swing arrangements of Christmas hymns including ‘God rest ye merry gentlemen’, ’12 Days of Christmas’ and ‘silent night’, along with many of their other hits. ‘Christmas Crooners’ is guaranteed to get the audience in the festive mood by singing along to great songs from Christmas past. The show is staged in the style of Andy Williams Christmas Shows complete with Christmas Trees, a Rocking Chair, colourful decorations and is full of Christmas Cheer.
