Charity Ball bids to top the €50,000 mark

D&A Charities (Doreen Conlon and Ann Hynes) will run their 4th annual Roscommon Town Gala Charity Ball on Saturday, 19th April at The Abbey Hotel Roscommon. Details of this year’s ball were released to the local media at the launch which was held in The Central Bar, Roscommon last Friday night. This year the main beneficiaries of the charity ball will be Breast Cancer Research and the Roscommon Mental Health Association and there were representatives from both organisations there on the night. Deputy Michael Finneran also attended as did other members of the organising committee. Doreen Conlon and Ann Hynes have raised €33,000 in their three charity events so far and their ambitious target this year is to pass the €50,000 mark in total. Tickets for the ball this year are €75 and there will be an auction on the night as well. Music will be supplied by an excellent band, Top Brass. Doreen Conlon explained that this year, the organising committee are also holding a draw in connection with the ball. ‘This should add to the success of the night. This means that people who may not be able to go to the ball can contribute to the charities by buying tickets in the draw’ she said. ‘We are looking forward to the night and people have been fantastic as usual. Greg Glancy has told us that he will sponsor the wine on the night so we are very grateful to him for that,’ she said. ‘Biggest yet’ Ann Hynes said that she hopes that this year’s event will be the biggest yet. ‘It is an ambitious target to pass the €50,000 mark this year, but we are confident we can do it. We have a committee behind us this year and we are looking forward to the night again.  The draw is a new venture and if we can get the tickets out we think we can do it,’ she said.    MC on the night will be Seamus Duke and tickets for the night can be obtained from Doreen Conlon or Ann Hynes.
