St. Faithleach’s won this dour battle played in the rain at Elphin last Saturday. Fintan Cregg, married just the day before, lined out alongside brothers Frankie, Gerry and Damien, but to no avail as Faithleach’s prevailed (and without Diarmuid Murtagh too).
In a very low-key affair, Faithleach’s were ahead by a point at half-time, 0-6 to 0-5. But with Conall Kennelly, Ciaran Murtagh and Dave Rooney to the fore, Faithleachs kicked on, and now if they beat St. Croan’s next weekend and Elphin lose to Pearses, they are through to the quarter-finals.

Pearses continued their unbeaten run with a comfortable victory in Ballinlough on Saturday evening. Hubert Darcy, Ronan Daly, Conor Daly and Mark Richardson were impressive as Pearses won with a bit in hand.
Pat Flanagan’s men led by 0-8 to 0-4 at half-time and never looked in trouble. Pearses face Elphin next weekend and look good for a place in the quarter-finals. Glavey’s will be hoping to win a local derby against Castlerea to avoid a relegation play-off.

St Croan’s 3-6
Castlerea St Kevin’s 1-11
St. Croan’s just about survived a late Castlerea rally in Ballinlough on Saturday evening. Early goals from Cathal Connelly and Adrian Collins set Croan’s on their way, and when Daniel Malone got a third goal before half-time, the Ballintubber men were nine ahead at the break, 3-4 to 0-4.
A penalty converted by Ronan Curran midway through the second period lifted Castlerea, and they laid siege to the Croan’s goal. But Croan’s held out to edge it by the minimum margin. Croan’s now face a difficult game against St. Faithleach’s this coming weekend in Ballyleague.

Mulryan Construction Intermediate Football Championship Group A
Tulsk won the battle of the top two when they edged out Fuerty by a point at Mulhern Park. There was never much between the teams who were locked together at eight points apiece at half-time.
Jack Conlon scored a fine Tulsk goal on the restart but Christy Leahy’s goal brought Fuerty back into the match. But Jack Conlon’s injury-time free saw them home by the minimum margin, 1-10 to 1-9. Both teams will most likely go through to the semi-finals.
Kilmore are back in the hunt after they scored a fine three-point win against Oran in Elphin. Kilmore were in total control in the opening half and, aided by a Derek Connellan goal, they led by 1-7 to 0-4 at the break.
Oran were much better in the second half and goals from Gearoid Keenan and Mike Dwyer had the sides level entering the final quarter. Late points from Derek Connellan, Gary Connellan and John Gannon sealed the win for them, 1-11 to 2-5 the final score.
St. Dominic’s, who were without a win, surprised Creggs at Mulhern Park with a well-deserved triumph. A penalty converted by Enda O’Rourke gave Creggs the early initiative, but St. Dominic’s came back well and led at half-time by 0-10 to 1-5.
After the break Naos Connaughton scored a fine goal for Dominic’s and they never looked back after that. Final score: St. Dominic’s 1-13 Creggs 1-8.
Group B
Kilbride continued their unbeaten run with an impressive win against St. Brigid’s. St. Barry’s’ good form continued when they edged out Shannon Gaels by a point, while Eire Og won by three points against St. Aidan’s.
