Chamber President calls for new members ahead of AGM

Roscommon Chamber President Brendan Allen has called for prospective new members to put their names forward ahead of the group’s AGM on Wednesday next (July 13th).

“This is a new post-pandemic era for the Chamber and so it’s important to get off on the right foot as Roscommon continues to recover from the effects of Covid-19 lockdowns,” Brendan said.

“With this in mind, we are calling on local business representatives to get involved in the Chamber in the hope of getting fresh views and ideas as well as a renewed energy.

“The Chamber will establish two sub-committees this year and they will be involved in various initiatives around the town.

“This is an exciting new era for the Chamber and those who would like to be part of it are welcome to attend next Wednesday’s AGM which takes place at Gleeson’s Restaurant and Rooms, starting at 8 pm”.

Brendan also welcomed confirmation that the All-Ireland Minor final between Galway and Mayo will take place at Dr. Hyde Park this Friday evening (July 9th).

“The local hospitality sector is the main beneficiary of that and it certainly deserves it after what local businesses went through during the pandemic,” he said.

“Most people will say that when matches are on in town it’s a bumper day for local businesses and of course for the town itself. That’s one of the great things about the GAA; when Roscommon supporters travel they spend money in other towns so it’s great to be able to host such a big match here.

“Also, it will be great to see Mayo and Galway people coming into the town and enjoying Roscommon because it’s a good town for days like this”.
