Celebrate the magic at Children’s book fest

The Children’s Book Festival will run from 3rd-26th October with over 1,000 events taking place nationwide to celebrate children’s books and encourage reading amongst young people.   Roscommon Mobile Library Services will be hosting a number of events during the festival. On October 10th, Chris Thompson will bring stories to life using puppets. She will visit Linda Madden’s pre-school at Antogher Road, followed by a visit to Henry Street Playgroup and Tír na nÓg on the Lanesboro Rd. The afternoon sessions will be for the older kiddies and will be stopping at Greenfields and Cuan Bhride Kilbride.   October 24th features ‘Animal Magic’ by Rosie Campbell who will bring along a selection of animals for an active learning session. This is a chance to meet Nina the eagle owl or say hello to Fiachra the Boa constrictor. The mobile will be stopping at Linda Madden’s and Greenfields preschools in the morning. There will be a further two sessions in the afternoon, at Henry Street preschool and lastly at Cuain Bhride Kilbride. Anyone wishing to hop on board for these sessions is more than welcome and places are not just limited to the children at the preschools.   Colouring competitions have also being organised and these can be picked up on board the vehicle. The Mobile also participates in the national ‘Design a Bookmark Competition’ details available on board or in your local library.
