Popular traditional music programme Céili House will be broadcast live from Strokestown on September 22 nd , at the launch of the annual Féile Frank McGann which takes place in Strokestown from October 4 th to 7 th . Tune in, or even better still, go down to The Percy French hotel for 9 pm on Saturday September 22nd to witness the buzz of a live broadcast of the finest trad music and song that you’re likely to hear anywhere in Ireland. All are very welcome. This year’s festival features an exciting line up of the tops in trad. Sean Keane, fiddler of The Chieftains fame will play an eagerly awaited recital in the stately kitchen of Strokestown Park House along with Steve Cooney on guitar. Former TG4 traditional musician of the year, John Carty will also bring his extraordinary talents on fiddle, banjo, and flute to Strokestown house. Arcady, with guests Buttons and Bows, will play the main concert on Saturday 6th. Book early, this could be a sell-out. Shaskeen will set the feet tapping at the céilí on Sunday 7th. Ireland’s best tutors will provide workshops in music, song, dance, instrument maintenance and the novel woodturning as gaeilge, all on Saturday 6th. Throw in a couple of competitions and most importantly, some of the best pub music sessions around, in a most hospitable and music friendly town, then there’s something to please all trad and folk musicians and followers.
