Castlerea Snooker news

Sean Fleming has defeated Colm Eakins by five frames to three in the final of the October competition at Castlerea Snooker Club.    The match was a close one with Colm Eakins winning the first frame in a tense black ball finish. Sean Fleming won the next three frames to race into the lead only to be brought  back to three frames all as a determined Colm won the last two frames of the first session.  Sean Fleming showed the form which won him last year’s February tournament to win the last two frames and the match by five frames to three.   Sean Fleming receives €150 first prize along with 8 points in the player of the year competition.  Colm Eakins wins €100 along with 6 points in the player of the year competition.     As per the last three years the prize for the player of the year is an all-expenses-paid trip to (next year’s) World Snooker final at the Crucible Theatre in Sheffield.  It had been hoped that we would have been able to finally get the youth version of our club up and running this season.  However due to the ongoing developments at the soccer club it was decided to wait until next September.     The club has been given assistance by FAS in relation to a supervisor for the club which was one of our major stumbling blocks up until now.  We would like to thank FAS for all their help and co-operation on the matter.
