It’s a frantic time for members of Castlerea Musical Society as they put the final touches to their forthcoming show ‘Hello Dolly’ which will be staged n River Island nightclub from February 6th to 9th. Hello Dolly is is the story of Mrs. Dolly Levi’s (played by Caroline Madigan) efforts to marry Horace Vandergelder (played by Dene Lane), the well-known half-a-millionaire, and send his money circulating among the people like rainwater the way her late husband, Ephraim Levi, taught her. Along the way she also succeeds in matching up the young and beautiful Widow Molloy (played by Angela McGuire) with Vandergelder’s head clerk, Cornelius Hackl (played by Daniel Doherty); Cornelius’ assistant, Barnaby Tucker (played by Kieran Croghan), with Mrs. Molloy’s assistant, Minnie Fay (played by Michelle Donnellan); and the struggling artist, Ambrose Kemper (played by Ivan Moran), with Mr. Vandergelder’s weeping niece, Ermengarde (played by Sinead Flynn). Mrs. Levi tracks Vandergelder to his hay and feed store in Yonkers, then by train back to Mrs. Molloy’s hat shop in New York, out into the streets of the city where they are all caught up in the great Fourteenth Street Association Parade, and finally to the most elegant and expensive restaurant in town, the Harmonia Gardens. There, Dolly is greeted by the waiters, cooks, doormen and wine stewards in one of the most famous songs in the history of American musical comedy, Hello, Dolly! What happens in the end? Does Dolly get her man? If she does, would she make him glad she caught him? The plot thickens and make sure to make a date to find out what happens to Mrs. Levi. It’s an ebullient and irresistible story of the joy of living, glittering with happy songs, shining with loving scenes, alive with the personality of one of the most fabulous characters on the musical stage…Dolly Gallagher Levi! A lot of hard work has gone into the preparations for this show and if you’re looking for a good night out, one that will have you leaving your seats humming to all the familiar tunes and laughing your sides off, this is definitely a show not to be missed. The dates again are February 6th right through to February 9th in River Island nightclub at 8.30 pm with concessions on Friday night for children and students. Only four nights to catch this performance so don’t forget and don’t be disappointed.
