Castlerea entrepreneur Karina wins Shell Livewire award

Castlerea’s Karina Kelly of Renew iT Ltd. received a special category award and €500 at the recent Shell Livewire regional awards. With a background in ecotourism and marketing, coupled with a passion for promoting environmentally friendly practices in the home, twenty eight-year-old Karina Kelly from Ballindrimley had been looking for an opportunity to protect the environment and develop a thriving enterprise. ‘I wanted to create a renewable energy business built on innovative products, trust, and back-up service that would encourage the adaptation of renewable energy and energy efficient products among all business and homeowners.’ After diligently conducting her market research, sourcing product suppliers and securing distribution rights on key products for Ireland, Karina launched Renew iT Ltd in September 2007. The company is a nationwide provider of renewable energy products and services to home owners and businesses. The product range includes Futura Wood Pellet Boilers, Enviro Wood Pellet Stoves, Solartek Solar Panels, ALURAD High Efficiency/High Design Radiators, Orcon Energy Recovery units and Waterway Solar Piping. Additional value added services include: on-site visits, free product servicing for 12 months, and business and home energy advice. Renew iT also offer a ‘Developer Package’ to encourage the implementation of renewables in housing developments; a ‘Trade Package’ to encourage the adoption of renewables among plumbers, and a ‘Start-Up Package’ for new renewable energy companies looking for agent opportunities, training, and support. Due to Karina’s background Renew iT also offer and a ‘Tourism Package’ which involves energy advice and green tourism mentoring. The Livewire programme celebrates the spirit of enterprise in young people aged 16-30.
