Suzuki Ladies National Football League Division 3 Roscommon ………. 4-3 Cavan ……………….. 0-9 Roscommon ladies footballers gained their second brace of points out of two games played when they had six points to spare over Cavan in this NFL Div. 3 game played at Mostrim last Sunday. The game was fixed for Lacken but it was changed at the last minute. Cavan missed three early frees, however Roscommon were first to score when Claire Grehan pointed and then in the 6th minute Roscommon got their first goal through Emer Casey who shot to the Cavan net after good work from Laura Sharkey and Annette McGeeney. Sarah Finnerty made a great save for Roscommon and when the ball was delivered downfield Jenny Conlon made no mistake for Roscommon’s second goal after Caroline Conway’s shot came back off the Cavan posts. Then Michelle Carey, Rachel Ryan and Jenny Conlon all combined to set up Emer Casey who got Roscommon’s third goal of the game and help them into a 3-2 to 0-4 lead half-time. Cavan were the better team after the break and if their shooting was a bit better they could have caused Roscommon some serious problems. As it was they scored three points on the trot to narrow the margin to only four. Cavan continued to miss chances and in a rare attack Roscommon grabbed their fourth goal when Emer Casey was fouled and her free went all the way into the Cavan net for their third goal of the game. Roscommon have a bye in the next round of games on the league.
