Gardai discovered a makeshift cannabis factory at a rented house in Carrick-on-Shannon on Tuesday night last. One man in his 20s was arrested after the discovery. Over 200 cannabis plants were recovered. It is believed that the first floor of the house had been converted into a professional cannabis-growing operation, complete with specialised plumbing, irrigation and transformers, capable of turning out a fresh crop of cannabis every ten weeks. A separate section was converted to dry the cannabis leaves for consumption.
