Can Roscommon town native make it two-in-a-row in Tralee?

Roscommon town native David Hoare will be hoping to add to Roscommon’s recent love affair with the Rose of Tralee when he participates as an escort during the festival which kicks off this week.

David (25) will hope to follow in the footsteps of Fourmilehouse native Paul Clabby who won Escort of the Year in 2018. The personal trainer travelled to Tralee this week to take part in what he hopes will be an exciting experience.

David, who works in Fullbody Workhouse located in Roscommon town, couldn’t hide his excitement when he spoke to the Roscommon People earlier this week.

“I can’t wait to enjoy the experience and meet lots of new people, both from Ireland and throughout the world. It should be a really fun week for all concerned,” he said.

David, son of Owen and Jacinta from the Racecourse Road, said that he was inspired to apply for the role by his family. After filling out the initial application form, he was then called for an interview and subsequently selected.

Then he had to take part in a bootcamp where he and all the other escorts were put through their paces. After completing that with aplomb he booked his place at the festival.

Roscommon has boasted many participants at the festival in recent times, and David revealed that current Escort of the Year Paul Clabby has been on hand to offer any advice needed.

“It was great to get to know everyone at the bootcamp and of course Paul, who is working in an official capacity down there, has been a great help to not just me but all the other escorts too”.

Asked if he felt he had a good chance of emulating Paul’s success, he said that he wasn’t really thinking about it but only focusing on enjoying the entire experience in Tralee.

You can catch David and all other participants when the 60th instalment of the Rose of Tralee is televised next weekend.

David would also like to take this opportunity to thank his two main sponsors – Cathal Dineen from Fullbody Workhouse, Roscommon, and Gary’s Gardening and Landscaping, Roscommon.
