Roscommon junior camogie team were presented with their Connacht medals from 2007 at a gathering in Harrison’s restaurant, Roscommon on Sunday night last. Geraldine Beattie Greene, Roscommon Camogie chairperson opened proceedings by congratulation the 2007 Roscommon camogie junior team on their success in the Connacht Final last year. She also wished the present panel the best of luck as they prepare for a League Final against Meath on April 13th. She went on to thank the management team for all their hard work, time, effort and dedication that they all put into the 2007 camogie year. Geraldine paid tribute to those who came on board as sponsors: Michael Finneran, Dermot Hughes and Seamus Carty & Associates. Geraldine paid tribute to her fellow officers of the Co. Camogie Board and thanked the hard-working committee behind the running of the National Congress taking place in the Hodson Bay Hotel on the 28th & 29th March 2008. Finally she thanked the local press for their coverage in 2008 and hoped that they would continue to promote the game further in the coming months. Chairperson of Connacht Council, Geraldine McGrath was guest speaker on the night. Mrs. McGrath stated that she was proud that Roscommon had some silverware on display from 2007 following the disappointing start they endured to the start of their 2007 campaign. She went on to say that Roscommon had put in place a very good management set-up since then with the deployment of two Galway men at the helm of Roscommon camogie. She joked that the two men were a loss to Galway camogie in general but she was delighted that they were making the headlines with camogie in Roscommon. She wished Roscommon success in their up-and-coming National League Final against Meath and hoped that success again on the National stage would be only around the corner. Geraldine then duly made the various presentations to players and management.
