Callow farm fetches €576,000

A recent auction by Ballaghaderreen auctioneer James Kilcoyne saw a 49-acre residential farm at Frenchpark fetch a total of €576,000. The farm was located in the townlands of Callow/Runnawillin, Runnameelta, Barnaboy and Carrownurlar and represented the estate of the late Dermot Dockery. The sale was conducted in four lots.  The first lot containted ten acres at Carrownurlar. Bidding opened at €80,000 and there were six bids of €10,000, bringing it to €140,000, when it was put on the market. 24 further bids of €5,000 brought the eventual sale price to €260,000.  The next lot to be sold was a cottage on 33.5 acre, pictured below). It fetched €300,000. Bidding opened at €155,000 and after 21 bids of €5,000 the lot was put on the market at €260,000. A further eight bids brought the sale price to €300,000. A half acre of bog sold at €4,000. Bidding started at €1,000 and rose to €2,000 before being placed on the market. There was a third bid of €1,000 before bidding slowed to €100 bids and the price achieved was €4,000. Finally, a further 3.6 acre of bog sold for €12,000. The lot opened at €2,000 and eitght €500 bids brought the price to €6,000, when it was placed on the market. A further 12 €500 bids brought the eventual sale price to €12,000. Auctioneer James Kilcoyne was very impressed with the result achieved and is now seeking a number of similar properties for a number of disappointed under bidders.
