Call to ‘end pharmacy dispute’

Frank Feighan TD this week called for a speedy resolution to a dispute ‘started by the Minister for Health and HSE with pharmacies’. He has called for the Minister and HSE to engage in a meaningful way with the pharmacy union towards a reasonable resolution. He questioned the independence of a review body set up by the Department of Health without consultation and added, ‘The Pharmacies, who are mainly small independent retailers, many of whom have spent a lifetime serving the sick and needy of the community, deserve more respect from the health authorities. Are we seeing an effort by HSE to close community-based pharmacies and put them out of business?’
