Seamus Duke Abbey Hotel O’Rourke Cup Castlerea St. Kevins v St. Aidans (Saturday at 4 pm in Ballyforan) Castlerea drew with Kilbride last week and are struggling a little without their ace score-getter Ger Heneghan in recent weeks. A weakened St. Aidans lost out to St. Brigids and they could do with a win. Aidans will be much stronger at home but Castlerea should have enough firepower to win it. Prediction: Castlerea. Elphin v St. Barrys (Saturday at 7 pm in Elphin) Elphin scored an excellent win against Western Gaels last weekend and are going along nicely. St. Barrys fought out a low-scoring draw with Roscommon Gaels last Sunday which they were very happy with. Elphin look the stronger here though. Prediction: Elphin. St. Brigids v St. Faithleachs (Saturday at Kiltoom at 5 pm) A repeat of the last two county senior finals. St. Brigids got back on the winning trail with a good win against St. Aidans last weekend while St. Faithleachs were far too good for Strokestown. This should be a close-run affair but Brigids at home are the confident choice to take the two points. Prediction: St. Brigids. Kilmore v Roscommon Gaels (Saturday in Kilmore at 7 pm) The Gaels have a dozen senior players on the injured list at the moment and last weekend they could only manage a draw against St. Barrys at home. Kilmore are very difficult to beat on their home patch and they may just be too strong here. Prediction: Kilmore. Strokestown v Western Gaels (Saturday in Strokestown at 7 pm) Both sides were well beaten last weekend and will want to get back on the winning trail here. Both teams have injury worries and if The Gaels can get some of their players back they could take the two points available. Prediction: Western Gaels. Padraig Pearses v Kilbride (Saturday in Pairc an Piarsiagh at 7 pm) Kilbride are going fairly well and last Sunday fought out a hard-earned draw with Castlerea. The outcome here will depend on whether Pearses can get a strong team out after a big club wedding on Friday when Dennis Whyte gets married. Pearses may just be strong enough. Prediction: Pearses. John Corcoran Menswear O’Gara Cup St. Michaels v Tulsk (Saturday in Cootehall at 5 pm) St. Michaels fought out an entertaining high-scoring draw with St. Dominics last weekend while Tulsk were beaten narrowly by Shannon Gaels. This has the makings of a close game but St. Michaels look the better bet at home. Prediction: St. Michaels. Creggs v St. Croans (Saturday in Creggs at 7 pm) Croans are in a confident mood having edged out Clann na nGael last weekend. Creggs were well beaten by St. Brigids and although they are at home, Croans should take the win. Prediction: St. Croans. St. Dominics v St. Ronans (Saturday in Knockcroghery at 6 pm) St. Dominics drew with St. Michaels last weekend and are generally playing well. St. Ronans did not play in the league last weekend and are a side that are well capable of putting it up to Dominics – however home advantage should swing it. Prediction: St. Dominics. Eire Og v Shannon Gaels (Sunday in Loughglynn at 3.30 pm) Shannon Gaels had a good win last weekend against Tulsk but they might find the going tougher here against the home side. Prediction: Eire Og. Michael Glaveys v St. Brigids (Sunday at 1 pm in Ballinlough) Glaveys are playing well and putting up big scores. They scored 1-15 last week against Clann na nGael B. St. Brigids scored 1-14 themselves while defeating beat Creggs. However Glaveys should be too strong here. Prediction: Michael Glaveys.
