Boyle planning blows: Council to blame, says An Taisce

A spokesperson for An Taisce has launched an astonishing attack on Roscommon County Council this week.   Speaking to Shannonside/Northern Sound on Tuesday last Ian Lumley said that in his view the fault for all the controversy regarding planning permissions (or lack of them) for the general Lough Key area lay at the door of Roscommon County Council.   Mr. Lumley said that Roscommon County Council were allowing local developers and others apply for planning permission for projects that were unsustainable and contrary to their own development plan.   Mr. Lumley also said that altering the plan would not make any difference because there were standards at national level that had to be observed too.   Mr. Lumley also said that he would welcome any chance to meet with the local groups such as Boyle Chamber of Commerce or Boyle Town Commissioners in the future.   Mr. Lumley was making his comments in the wake of the refusal of planning permission for a hotel project for Doon Shore.   See political reaction on our election pages.
