Boyle man’s cartoon firm up for Golden Globe

‘The Breadwinner’, a new animated film by Kilkenny based Cartoon Saloon, has been nominated for a Golden Globe.

Cartoon Saloon was formed by Boyle native Paul Young along with Tomm Moore and Nora Twomey back in 1999 and has been making waves ever since.

The Breadwinner has been described as “a gorgeously animated tale of oppression and perseverance” about the fortunes of a family in Taliban controlled Afghanistan. It joins The Boss Baby, Ferdinand, Coco and Loving Vincent in the Best Motion Picture (Animated) section.

The 2018 Golden Globe Awards will be held in the Beverly Hilton Hotel on Sunday, January 7th.
