Milltown Mushrooms in Kiltoom received a boost this week with news that it is to receive a capital grant of €137,378 under the Grant Scheme for the development of the horticulture sector. The Kiltoom-based business was congratulated by Deputy Michael Finneran who said, ‘The level of interest in the Horticulture Development Grant Scheme is at its highest since it was initiated in 2000, and I would like to encourage shoppers to support these local producers.’ ‘Fresh local food is heard to beat and it requires less transporting, so people can also do their bit for the environment by buying locally,’ he said.
