Bookie’s Corner

It’s a massive weekend of GAA action and there is top class football and hurling action on both Saturday and Sunday. In the football qualifiers the prices on the two games are as follows: Monaghan 13/8 v Donegal 8/13; Draw 15/2. Laois 6/4 v Derry 4/6; Draw 15/2.    In the hurling quarter-finals the following are the prices: Tipperary 1/6 v Wexford 9/2; Draw 12/1. Kilkenny 2/9 v Galway 7/2; Draw 12/1. Elsewhere it’s Limerick 10/11 v Clare 1/1; Draw 9/1 and Waterford 5/6 v Cork 11/10. Draw 9/1.   In the local football championships this weekend the prices for the various matches are as follows: Ruby Oil SFC: St. Aidans 11/4 v St. Brigids 3/10;  Draw 8/1. Strokestown 11/10 v Roscommon Gaels 5/6; Draw 7/1.    Roscommon Herald Intermediate Football Championship: Fuerty 2/1 v St. Dominics 4/9; Draw 7/1. St. Ronans 6/4 v St. Croans 8/13; Draw 7/1.   In horseracing the big race of the weekend is the King George VI and Queen Elizabeth Stakes at Ascot. The prices for the leading horses are: 1/1 Dylan Thomas, 4/1 Scorpion, 5/1 Maraahel, 6/1 Youmzain, 16/1 Bar. The red-hot favoutite will be the Aidan  O’Brien trained Dylan Thomas ridden by Johnny Murtagh – however the value bet may well be the other O’Brien horse – Scorpion – which may offer better each-way prospects. Bet of the week: Waterford (5/6) to land the odds and beat Cork again in the All-Ireland SHC.
