Bóthar auction raises over €6,000.

An auction organised by Cam Bóthar Committee in McDermott’s Lounge in Curraghboy recently raised over €6,000. The fundraising night was held on Friday, October 26 th . The principal event of the evening was an auction of livestock and other items. Among the items auctioned were a number of lambs donated by the following: Brian and Mary Fallon, Curraghboy, PJ and Miriam Finnerty, Kilcar, Brideswell, Gerry and Maureen Doyle, Curraghboy, John McDermott, Curraghboy, Mattie and Marian O’Brien, Brideswell, Ultan and Bernadette Burke, Brideswell, Tommy and Eileen Dolan, Cam, Brideswell, Seamus and Teresa McHugh, Curraghboy, Brendan Butler, Tavanagh, Brideswell, a breeding ewe donated by Willie and Kathleen Dolan, Brideswell, and a purebred Texel hogget ram, donated by Laurence Fallon, Ballagh, Rahara. The main items auctioned were a Limousin weanling heifer donated by John Watson, Curraghboy and an Angus weanling heifer donated by Patrick and Pauline Tuohy, Loughrea. Also auctioned was a goose donated by Martin and Margaret Dolan, Lisphelim, 12 bales of briquettes donated by James Murray Jr., Brideswell, a drum of engine oil donated by Tommy Kelly, Corrib Oil Athlone, a ton of timber donated by Peter Craven, a chainsaw donated by Michael Kilmartin, Pro Trailers and Machinery, Lisbrock, Kiltoom, a cd radio donated by Kevin and Anne Mannion, Curraghboy, a clock donated by Bridie Scally, Curraghboy, a high pressure washer donated by Teresa Geraghty, Curraghboy and cordless drill and nokia phone donated by Carmel Gacquin, Curraghboy The auction was expertly conducted by guest auctioneer, David Connaughton, Knockcroghery.  A raffle was also held in conjunction with the event and some individuals gave private donations. A total of €6,232 was raised by the people of Cam parish area at the fundraising event in McDermott’s.
