Barstool Boyos – 16th of September

‘Live from the Local’… it has a nice ring to it!

You don’t understand!

Huh?

The Editor…he wants to livestream us!

So…

This column…LIVE from the local!

It has a nice ring to it…

Huh?

‘Live from the Local’… it could take off, nationwide!

Mmnn…

What exactly was he proposing?

Well I dunno if he was serious or not, but he mentioned livestreaming our column on the Internet every week. We just turn up in the pub at an appointed time, and start talking!

And they record it?

NO! LIVESTREAM! Live! We start chatting, they broadcast it there and then on the Internet!

Wow!

Wow what?

We’d be stars! It could go global! A viewer’s dream!

A solicitor’s dream, with some of the stuff you come out with!

Oh yeah…

My big concern is the quality factor. At least when our column is appearing solely in print, we have a week to reflect on. One single live segment would run the risk of our output being too dull…

Boring even?

God forbid!

(They pause to discuss what perks they should insist on if their column goes live on the Internet…beginning with a fashion budget, moving on to whether they need one make-up artist or two)

I suppose if it was anything like last Friday night…

Huh?

Last Friday in the local…would have made a decent livestream of our ramblings.

Really?

Let me remind you! We arrive in the pub, and they’re watching whatever bit of live sport had survived…

Yeah…

Then you insist on switching channels to coverage of the Queen’s passing…

Insist? I didn’t actually say anything…

No, you just grabbed the remote and asked everyone to ‘hush!’…

Well this has been a historic few days…

After a few pints, you started playing ‘God Save The Queen’ on your phone…

Did I? I wondered why a few of the locals left…

Then when the RTE News went to its ‘meanwhile’ slot, you turned the volume down and flicked back to the sport…

Yeah, ‘cos I couldn’t cope with that footage of Garth Brooks crying at Croker!

(They pause to give out about Garth Brooks, before then finalising arrangements for their trip to see him in concert this weekend)

So, all in all, quite a week…

Indeed. As we said the other night, whatever your views on the monarchy, Queen Elizabeth was an amazing lady, and probably the most famous person in the world!

Agreed. She was remarkable.

Both: Our thoughts are with our friends in the UK. Sympathy to the Royal family and the British people…

(They pause to check when the Premier League is resuming)

So, if it goes ahead, what will we call it?

Huh?

If we’re being livestreamed, it may need its own title…it will be a bit like Keeping Up with the Kardashians.

Will it?

I was thinking, we could take inspiration from Garth Brooks…and call it…

Both: Friends in Low Places!
