Ballintubber Walk/Walk on St Stephen’s Day

The annual Ballintubber St Stephen’s Day Walk/Run will take place this year, starting at 1.30 pm and offering both 5k and 10k routes.

Over the years, this walk has become part of Ballintubber tradition with families and neighbours meeting and walking together to burn off any excesses of Christmas Day.

In recent years, runners have become a welcome part of the fun with both locals and people from local villages taking part.

The route has enough hills and inclines to make it a very interesting one.

The annual walk is a fundraising opportunity for local worthy causes and this year the Old School House, Ballintubber, and St Croan’s pitch/stand development are the beneficiaries.

The Old School House is a beautiful building in the heart of the village, which functions as a community centre. Its windows and heating system are in need of repair.

The new stand is part of the ongoing development at Enfield pitch and will be a fitting tribute to the wonderful success the club has had in recent years. Pieta House, as part of its partnership with GAA, will also benefit from the funds raised.

The après walk is always an enjoyable part of the occasion with refreshments served for all in Kenny’s.

All cards returned will be included in a draw that will be held after the walk. The organisers look forward to seeing you all on St Stephen’s Day.
