Ballaghaderreen hosts Roscommon County Fleadh this Easter

Ballaghaderreen will come alive once again this Easter Bank Holiday weekend with craic agus ceoil as the town hosts the 2022 Roscommon County Fleadh.

Ballaghaderreen last hosted the County Fleadh in 2019 prior to the outbreak of Covid-19. That event was a tremendous success and plans were well underway for the 2020 edition before the music was cruelly silenced by the pandemic. Nobody could have imagined then that it would be Easter 2022 before Ballaghaderreen would see another County Fleadh.

Organiser and local publican, Neil Sheridan, says this year’s festival of music will aim to make up for lost time.

“The 2022 Roscommon County Fleadh Cheoil will be three Fleadhs in one on account of the 2020 and 2021 events being cancelled,” Neil said.

“There will be music sessions in the bars around the town as well as live outdoor performances and busking too. There will be plenty of events for people of all ages in Ballaghaderreen this Easter Bank Holiday weekend”.

The Roscommon County Fleadh Cheoil 2022 runs from Friday, April 15th, until Bank Holiday Monday, April 18th (…and probably until Tuesday, April 19th!). For all enquiries, phone 094-9860144. You can also follow the event on Facebook at Roscommon Fleadh 2022.
