As the sports section was going to print, the Central Competitions Control Committee was meeting in Hannon’s Hotel, Roscommon to formally fix the Intermediate and Junior Football Championship Final replays.
County PRO Hugh Lynn said: “The CCCC is meeting at 8.15 pm to formally finalise the junior and intermediate finals and appoint officials. As you know, the junior final is set for next Saturday but due to Oran’s involvement in the senior hurling final this weekend, no date had been set for the intermediate final.”
Last Sunday, both the Junior Football Championship and the Intermediate Football Championship finals ended in deadlock in front of a bumper crowd in Strokestown.
In the curtain raiser, Kilglass Gaels proved more than a match for Creggs and may have felt a little disappointed with just a draw.
The intermediate final was a poor game between Kilmore and Oran and both sides will be relieved to have another crack at the title.
