Award-winning hair stylist opens new salon in Creggs

Award-winning hair stylist Grace Cunniffe is this week preparing to open a salon, Headerz, in Creggs village. A former finalist in the Wella Trend Vision hair design competition, Grace has vast experience in the business, having worked in a variety of positions in the industry in Galway, Castlerea and Roscommon.             Grace’s career in the hairdressing industry began with her training in Costello’s in Galway five years ago. After spending three years there, she moved closer to home, working in Sharon’s in Castlerea for a time, before moving to Galaxy Hair and Beauty Salon at Harrison Centre, Roscommon, where she worked as a stylist, building up an excellent clientele of loyal customers. In recent times she was appointed Manager of the hairdressing aspect of the business in Galaxy, before making the decision to start up her own business.             One of the highlights of Grace’s career to date was her selection as a finalist in the Wella Trend Vision competition last year. She was one of 13 finalists selected from around the country to compete. ‘To enter the competition, you did up a model, with hair, make-up and outfit. Pictures of the style were then sent to England and 13 finalists were selected by the top hairdressers at Wella.’             The experience of taking part in the final in Dublin was one which Grace thoroughly enjoyed and she intends to enter further competitions from her new business base in Creggs.             A full range of hair styling is available at Headerz, including cuts, colours, upstyles, highlights and all up-to-the-minute hair styles. Grace also specialises in weddings, providing consultations and styling for the bride and her bridesmaids as well as the mother-of-the bride and other members of the wedding party.             Prices at Headerz range from €30 for a wash, cut and blowdry to €100 for full highlights. Both ladies and gents are catered for and from Tuesday to Thursday there will be a special discount for OAPs. Students can also avail of a discount rate.             Alfa Parf products will be used in the new premises, and a full range of Alfa Parf products will also be available to buy in the new salon, including colour, shampoo, conditioner, conditioning treatments and the very popular semi dilino serum.             Grace is a native of Togher, Creggs, daughter of Sean and Mary Cunniffe. This week she thanked all her customers over the years and all the staff and clients at Galaxy in Roscommon, with whom she greatly enjoyed working. She also thanked friends, especially Anne Marie Faulkner and Ann Marie Brennan and family and all the people that helped fit out the new premises in Creggs.             Headerz is located in the newly developed Gannon’s premises in Creggs, adjacent to the Feather Inn bar, fronting onto the Roscommon to Glenamaddy road. ‘I chose Headerz because there are plenty of them around and I didn’t think ‘Grace’s’ was a very original name!’ said Grace.             The new premises opens for business on Friday, June 15th and there will be a cheese and wine reception to mark the opening on Saturday, June 23rd from 4 pm to 8 pm. All are welcome.             Headers is open for business from Tuesday to Thursday, 9.30 am to 5.30 pm. Friday opening hours are 9.30 am to 6.30 pm and the salon is open on Saturdays from 9 am to 5.30 pm. No appointments are necessary. Grace can be contacted on (087) 6532784.
