Springtime concert Athlone Choral Society will present a Springtime Concert on Sunday, April 27th at 8 pm in the Radisson SAS hotel in Athlone. Special guests include Soprano Breda O Connor, pianist Darren Lane and a return visit from popular Alexander String Quartet. One-act plays Roscommon Drama Group presents three on-act plays, ranging from tragedy to comedy, in Roscommon Arts Centre on Thursday 3rd, Friday 4th and Saturday 5th of April at 8 pm. Ballinasloe set dancing Set dancing workshops will take place in the Gaelscoil, Ballinasloe on Saturday 12th April and Sunday, 13th April, with Aidan Vaughan. There will be a céilí on Saturday night at 10 pm with music b y Carousel and a céilí on Sunday afternoon at 3 pm with the Davey Ceili Band. Boyle Camera Club Members of Boyle Camera Club look forward to their second field trip on Sunday, April 6th, when they meet for a trip to Bricklieves and Carrowkeel Tomb. Members should meet at the Crescent in Boyle at 8.20 am for car pooling. For insurance reasons, this is strictly a members-only event. Meanwhile, the subject for next month’s motivational competition is ‘Water’, with a deadline of Friday, April 4th. The competition is open to paid up members of the club who can submit up to three images each via info@boylecameraclub.com . Boyle book club The next meeting of Boyle Library Book Club will take place on Thursday, April 3rd at 6.45 pm in the Town Council Room of the library. The book under discussion will be ‘Miss Garnet’s Angel’ by Salley Vickers. Next on the agenda will be ‘The Grass is Singing’ by Doris Lessing for the May meeting. The club meets on the every first Thursday of the month. New members are welcome – discussions are very informal and fiction and non-fiction regularly come under scrutiny.
