Ballinasloe Singers Circle The next Ballinasloe Singers Circle will be held on Thursday 8th May at 9.30 pm in the Dunlo Tavern, Ballinasloe. The Circle had a great turnout at its last session in April with singers from far and near joining the local singers on the night. The organisers hope that the regular followers will continue their support and invite anyone interested in singing, telling a sceal, or just listening to come along. Maureen O’Sullivan exhibition An exhibition remembering the Hollywood actress Maureen O’Sullivan who was born in Boyle, will be on show in the Art Room at King House until May 25th, with free entry. Choir deadline approaches Don’t forget that Monday next, May 12th is the deadline for applications for Roscommon Chamber Choir. It is hoped that the group will consist of approximately twenty-four of the finest voices within the county of Roscommon and its surrounding areas. The group will have many challenges and is set up primarily as a competition choir to compete in various choral competitions both nationally and internationally. However, the first project for the choir is to record a Christmas CD in November ready for release in December 2008. The ‘Roscommon Chamber Choir’ will rehearse every Wednesday in Roscommon Town commencing in September. All applicants must be between 18 and 30 on September 1st 2008. After the audition process, successful applicants may be offered a place in the Roscommon Chamber Choir, which will run from September 2008 to June 2009.
