Armagh advance against off-key Roscommon

Roscommon’s run in this year’s All-Ireland SFC came to an end in Croke Park on Saturday when they were beaten by a six-point margin by Armagh.

The opening quarter was a disaster for Davy Burke’s men as first Davy Murray and then Ultan Harney had to go off with injuries before the 15-minute mark.

By the 28th minute Armagh led by 1-3 to 0-1 with Barry McCambridge crashing home a great goal in the 19th minute.

However Roscommon improved before the break with points from Conor Cox (2) and Niall Higgins and by the halfway mark it was Armagh 1-3 Roscommon 0-4.

The Rossies drew level in the opening two minute of the second half with points from Eoin McCormack and Dylan Ruane but that was as good as it got for them.

Inspired by sub Stefan Campbell Armagh took over and in the 52nd minute Conor Turbitt crashed home a second goal following a Roscommon defensive mix-up and it was game over after that. Final score:

Armagh 2-12 Roscommon 0-12
