Castlerea’s double boxing Olympian Aoife O’Rourke has been announced as a finalist in Permanent TSB’s Inspiring the Nation Awards.

The Tarmon fighter has been named as a finalist alongside her fellow double boxing Olympian Kellie Harrington as well as three other Irish athletes, Sarah Lavin (Athletics), Rhasidat Adeleke (Athletics) and Amy Wall (Kickboxing)

The award recognises the Team Ireland athlete role model that most encourages and motivates others in their sport, and in wider society.

The winner will be announced at the Team Ireland Olympic Ball which takes place on Saturday in Dublin.

Aoife qualified for next year’s Paris Olympics after winning gold in the European Games which were held earlier this year.
