As one of the partners in Morris Lohan & Associates, Lanesboro native Andrew Morris brings a wealth of experience to the business. Academic qualifications to masters level are allied with a comprehensive bank of experience in various sectors of the engineering business. He has worked on major infrastructural projects, such as motorways and rail lines and has also been involved in structural design of innovative projects, such as a metro system in India. Apart from this, he has also worked on numerous housing and commercial projects and his expertise in the area of water treatment will also be invaluable in terms of his work in Roscommon. After completing his secondary school education, Andrew attended Athlone IT where he qualified with a Certificate and Diploma in Civil Engineering. He then attended the University of Abertay in Dundee, graduating with a B. Eng (Hons) in civil engineering and a M. Sc in Urban Water and Environment Management, also from the University of Abertay. Having gained his Master’s degree, he went on to work on a number of prestigious engineering projects. He worked with MC O’Sullivans on the new N4 motorway, working on site investigations and also the design and site investigation of the gas pipeline to the west. While living and working in Scotland, in Aberdeen and Dundee, he worked on Dundee University’s research centre which consisted of the construction of the concrete super structure and both exacavation and drainage works. While in Aberdeen working for Mott MacDonald he worked on the plans for sub stations on the deli-metro system in India and also on the railway line project linking London and Glasgow and various waste water treatments projects throughout the country. Apart from his international work experience, Andrew also has a wealth of experience on the local schemes. He worked for Roscommon County Council on the new wastewater treatment system for Roscommon town. On his return to Ireland in 2004, he began working with A&L Consultants, part of the Hanly Group, working on various projects, such as the structural design of the conference centre at Lough Rynn and also White Linen Woods, a development of 239 houses in Longford.
