Revenue officers seized smuggled alcohol worth over €2,400 at a premises in Co. Roscommon as part of an intelligence-led operation last Thursday.
A man and a woman, both aged in their 30s, were questioned after 400 litres of spirits, beer and wine were seized. Officers estimated the alcohol, with an estimated retail value of over €2,400, represents a potential loss to the Exchequer of over €1,420.
Investigations into the seizure are ongoing and Revenue officers have urged businesses or members of the public, who may have information regarding smuggling, to contact them in confidence on 1800-295295.
