Abbey Hotel achieves four-star status

The Abbey Hotel, Roscommon town’s premier such facility, has been upgraded to a four-star establishment in what is a major recognition for a renowned family-run enterprise. Last week the proprietors, the Grealy family, held a celebratory evening to mark the promotion of the hotel into the top level of facilities in the country.   The current Grealy family, led by Tommy and Anya, took over ‘the Abbey’ in its present form in 1962 – but the Grealy family have been in the hotel business in Roscommon town for well over 100 years.   Speaking to The Roscommon People in the Abbey Hotel at a special celebration night last week, Mr. Tommy Grealy said that all at the hotel were delighted to have received the four-star rating.    ‘The four-star classification came just over two months ago. We decided to apply for it earlier in the year
