Aishleen, Katie-Anne and Charlotte O’Toole from Ballintubber are the founders of Jacinta’s Smile. The three sisters set up this organisation last year in honour of their brother Declan who died in 1996 and their sister Jacinta who sadly passed away unexpectedly in January 2016.
Since that date, the girls have completed the Dublin City Marathon and with the donations they received they set up this organisation for young brothers and sisters who have lost a sibling. However, little did the sisters realise that tragedy would strike a third time, when their brother Fintan died unexpectedly in April of last year.
The girls understandably took some much-needed time off to set themselves up for the year ahead and with some space and the continued support of the community, they are ready to get back into action. This time, their organisation is in honour of their brothers Declan and Fintan and sister Jacinta.
Last year, Jacinta’s Smile held their first activity day for children in Delphi, Co. Mayo. It was a resounding success where 25 young children experienced love, laughter, hope and encouragement. Photos and videos of this event are available on Facebook.
Jacinta’s Smile would like to thank all those that have spoken so highly and positively of the work that they have carried out thus far and for the everlasting encouraging words being sent in their direction. This encouragement has enabled the O’Toole family to keep going and continue to support other children who are grieving.
Jacinta’s Smile will be releasing further details very soon about upcoming events so keep an eye on their Facebook page or email info@jacintas-smile.com for more information. And as always if you do know of a family that can avail of this free support then please do get in touch with the organisation on 090-6625898 or 087-4220000.
