SeaFest a ‘must-sea’ for 100,000 this weekend in Galway
A weekend of seafaring fun for those of all ages is promised for SeaFest 2018, Ireland’s largest and most spectacular maritime festival, rowing into Galway this weekend (29th June to 1st July). Flyboarding, celebrity chefs, seafood, sailing, ship tours and talks from famous wildlife cameraman Doug Allan are among the packed programme of free family-friendly activities on offer.
Now in its fourth year, SeaFest has quickly become one of the most popular summer festivals in Ireland, attracting more than 100,000 visitors last year. The national festival aims to create awareness of our maritime heritage and celebrates the amazing ways that our seas and oceans enrich our lives.
SeaFest is truly a unique family festival. The range of exciting activities and attractions on and around the water aim to engage the young and the young at heart, in the magic and mystery of the ocean.
Speaking about the upcoming festival, Castlerea native and Communications Manager for the Marine Institute and SeaFest, Sinéad Coyne said: “Galway Harbour and docks will literally transform into a giant, interactive “sea world” for the three-day festival with the entire waterfront awash with non-stop water based activity. Every inch of the port will be crammed with boats, over 100, of all shapes and sizes, including sailing, scientific and navy ships.”
All events and activities taking place over the weekend are free, making it possible for the entire family to enjoy the festival experience.
