‘A huge lift to Roscommon hurling’

Chairman of Roscommon Hurling Board Brian McDonnell was in the middle of the cheering and singing in the Roscommon dressing room deep in the bowels of Croke Park under the Cusack Stand after the game.             ‘It’s fantastic, a dream come true. The management have to get great credit for what they have done since the start of the year. They put the structures in place and fair play to all the players too, they have worked so hard. This is a huge lift to Roscommon hurling and we can build from here,’ he said.             On the match itself he acknowledged that Gary Fallon’s goal was crucial, ‘We knew a goal would be vital and thank God it came at the right time, but we worked so hard all over the field, especially in the second half. It’s a brilliant feeling and we can enjoy the celebrations now,’ he said.
