36,000 visit Forest Park in ‘first’ three months

Over 36,000 people have visited the Lough Key Forest Park facilities since they were revamped and opened three months ago. A number of new attractions were added  at the Park following a €10 million investment completed in May this year.   Lough Key Forest Park spokesperson Louise Fitzpatrick told the Roscommon People yesterday (Wednesday) plans to open the Park facilities all year round.   ‘We are very encouraged by the figures. Remember they are only the figures for people who have used the attractions and there are many many more people who would have come to visit the Park itself and remember we have only been opened since the 19th May. ‘We are hoping to develop our Boda Borg house  challenge for the winter months. It is indoor and not weather-dependent so that should be attractive. It is suitable for team work like corporate events and it is great fun ands we are expecting a lot of bookings, especially around Christmas’ she said.    Lough Key Forest Park is now one of the top tourist attractions in the West of Ireland and it is hoped that the visitor numbers will grow significantly again in 2008.
