A 20-year-old man has died following a road accident at Ardcarne in Boyle in the early hours of Wednesday morning.
The man was fatally injured after the car he was a passenger in left the road and struck a ditch just after midnight. He had suffered serious injuries and was taken to Sligo University Hospital where he was later pronounced dead.
The 31-year-old driver of the car and a second male passenger, aged 37, were also taken to Sligo University Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
The scene had been preserved for a technical examination with a stop/go system put in place.
