The 2007 Roscommon Role of Tralee will be chosen at the annual Rose Ball on Saturday, 28th April at the Royal Hotel, Roscommon. The details were announced at a special launch held at Jack’s in the Royal Hotel last Thursday night. In the 2007 event there will be 19 entrants representing various businesses groups and individuals throughout the county and this year the main sponsor will be O’Brien’s Pharmacy, Roscommon. Speaking at last week’s launch PRO of the organising committee Mairead O’Shea said that she was delighted to welcome the roses and the sponsors to the launch of what she termed ‘ The social event of the year’ in Co. Roscommon. The reigning International Rose of Tralee Kathryn Feeney from Queensland, Australia will be there on the night and the music will be supplied by Dave and Blue Tax. As always there will be two local charities benefitting from the event and this year it’s the Roscommon Special Olympics Support an Athlete programme and the Roscommon Lions Club Suicide Awareness initiative. The compere for the night will be well-known Galway Bay FM presenter Ollie Turner and the MC will be former Mayo footballer and RTE tv Sunday Game analyst Kevin McStay. One of this year’s judges will be former Miss Ireland and Ballaghadereen native Emer Holohan Doyle who will join the other judges from the international committee in Tralee in Roscommon on the night. The winning Rose will receive a €1,000 cash prize as well as a perpetual trophy sponsored by O’Brien’s Pharmacy. The winner will also receive a designer gown compliments of Ultimate Bride, Harrisson Centre, Roscommon and a selection of Newbridge jewellery as well as an outfit from the Daisy Chain Boutique and a pair of designer shoes from Carrie Bradshaw, Harrisson Court, Roscommon and a day outfit from Boo Boutique, Stone Court, Roscommon. The flowers for the Ball are sponsored by Calla Flowers, Strokestown and every entrant will receive a piece of jewellery compliments of Mary Raftery Jewellery in Roscommon. There will also be a chance for one person attending the ball on the night to win a hamper containing €500 of Collin Beauty Products compliments of Louise Conneally. Details on the night.
